No 1st AB unit took 20mm AA guns into Arnhem except 1st Recce Sqn. The Recce Sqn had a section of 20mm AA guns (2 of them I belive and they were Jeep towed) but they wern't Hispanos, they were 20mm Polstens. If you go to Pegasus Archives you can find them mentioned in the Suadron's war diary.

And Woulf, could you share a pic of the AA guns in Arnhem? would love to see them as I have desperatly tried to find more evidence om them.

"...it was one of those pages..."  [&:]

Sorry Karl, I was cruising for info on Normandy when I found it, so I read it (and saw the picts) and moved on since it didn't concerned 6th Para. (A bit like BAR's in US AB and US snipers; -I've read about it, but I don't have any links to the info...) [:(]

A sidetrack, but isn't there at least one 20mm AA on display in the Arnhem area nowadays, think I've seen that too?

Looked into it again.

The place to start, guess most of you have it already:

Here you have the war diary for 2nd Airlanding LAA Bty. R.A. (T.A.):

...and a forum with a guy who have looked into the 20mm AA gun:

All I could find right now, cheers

It's ok Woulf. Yeah I have seen that 20mm at Hartenstein, it's a 20mm Polsten like the 2 1st Recce Sqn used.
This would confirm Recce's Polstens:

From a British Airborne war diary Sept 1944:

1000 - Reports that the enemy have crossed the river LEK in force at RENKUM 6276 and is pressing east. Capt. Costeloe and Lieut. Christie site Polsten section to cover the road west.
1645 - Polsten sections leave to support A and D Troops who are under strong pressure from the enemy. Section fire on their objective. Lieut Christie killed whilst attempting to save Jeep and Polsten.
www.pegasusarchive.org/arnhem/war_recce.htm

1st Airborne Reconnaissance Sqn

In accordance with ' Recce policy ' ; the fire power of the jeeps was substantially upgraded. Every jeep had a Vickers "K" .303 machine gun mounted with a round magazine holding 96 rounds. In addition some had 2 20mm polsten cannons towed behind the jeep. The Polsten cannons were an Anti Aircraft gun but, due to their high firing rate, they were a very effective ground weapon. They also carried standard infantry weapons including two 3" mortars and 2" mortars, a Bren Light machine gun, standard rifles but with sniper sights, a Piat gun and many and various hand grenades. Most men had a Sten gun and the Radio Operators a revolver.http://www.justordinarymen.org.uk/pa...202780890.html

The last Polsten was sited at Hartenstein to provide support to the defence.

Why not add an Independant 1st Recce Sqn in the game add the 2 Polstens?
