The Vikings lost. But they played much better with Ponder as QB. My teams didn't fare to well this weekend. UND football team lost a close one. And the Hockey team gets swept in Wisconsin 5-3, 5-4. They are a young team. Can't be in the Frozen Four every year.
Congrats New Zealand in the world Rugby Championship. I even watched part of that game.

Yep, we watched it yesterday too. Tough game played by both sides. Still figuring out the rules, but it's interesting to watch.

Did you happen to catch the Colts/Saints?

Drew Brees had more TDs than interceptions... wow

i'm pretty sure that he also had more TD's than INCOMPLETIONS in that game...wow...

but if you want to talk about some epic american football, let's talk MNF...no first downs in entire first half for the raisons? (errrr, ravens) as opposed to the saints, who didn't have a third down for most of the game!!!

Ha! I meant more tds than incompletions. Just caught that. Thanks... hell more td's than int is so common who cares.

Yeah-that's what I was thinking too, Jeff. Who cares? [:'(]

Leo "Apollo11"

I've seen these once in person. Maybe 5 or 6 years ago there was a shift in the atmosphere over a period of a month and we saw really nice Aurora Borealis here in Minnesota.

For those of you that haven't experienced it-it's something you have to see in your lifetime. Like the giant coastal redwoods of California, the raw unbridled destructive side of nature (Mt. Saint Helens), the high plains of the Southwest or the 'lost coast' in California / Oregon. These have been crossed off of my 'bucket list'.

Hey Viking dude: I would bet that you regularly can see good Aurora in your northern areas, no? This isn't just a North American thing, is it?

Life sucks, then it blows. Then, against all laws of Nature and Man, it sucks and blows at the same time. And then I bob back up to the surface and realize that things could be worse.

Playing Orcs Must Die, Space Marine, Dawn of War II, Modern Warfare II multiplayer, Unity of Command, Eagle Day to Bombing The Reich and Total War Shogun 2.

If by 'Viking dude' you mean me, then yes, Aurora Borealis is one of those things that doesn't cause much excitement any longer, unless it's of the truly spectacular kind. [:)]

The same goes for North Dakota. Seen some pretty good ones though. Staying with my friends in Bozeman, MT a few years back; I was out on thier deck watching the Northern Lights (as we call the Auroras). I told them about it the next day. They were pretty disappointed that I didn't wake them. The Northern Lights I guess are pretty rare where the live.

Morning early tithe (0550)... Looks clear out this morning, and the eastern horizon is light-blue already (sun-up about 0630). Going to be a hot day when it warms-up, and I think the birds know already, as they are making a racket. [8D]

Yes T... funny thing life is, when it is going well, it can kick you in the pants when you are not looking. But I always think it could be worse, like living one's life in an era before computers. [;)]

USSAmerica -> RE: THE THREAD!!! (10/27/2011 7:22:19 PM)

OK, computer technical question for you fellow geeks, especially the artists like Dixie and Des.  I have found a gif of a section of a sphere that my wife wants to use for our son's Halloween costume.  It is 1/6th of the sphere.  When measured, it is currently about 7.5 x 2.5 inches in size.  Can anyone tell me an easy way to resize it up to 24 x 8 inches?  That is the size of the pattern pieces my wife needs to make the covering for the sphere.

Here's a link to the .gif:  http://images.silverseams.com/opensource/spheres/sphere6.gif

I'd like to print the resized image on a few sheets of paper and then cut/tape them for my wife's pattern.

If you like; send it to me and I could take a crack at it autoCad and PDF the file and send it back.

Mynok -> RE: THE THREAD!!! (10/27/2011 7:41:15 PM)

That particular image isn't going to scale very well. You can see it already has jagged edges.

USSAmerica -> RE: THE THREAD!!! (10/27/2011 7:47:38 PM)

Jagged edges will be fine.  She's going to cut the material a little wider than the pattern for sewing, anyway.

Marc, thanks for the offer!  Let me know if you can't get the image from the link I posted and I'll PM it to you.  [sm=00000436.gif]

TW 2 Shogun any good? I loved the first one.

Schanilec -> RE: THE THREAD!!! (10/27/2011 8:11:16 PM)

I have it downloaded. Give me a little bit, I just got a project to set up. Finally some hours.[:)] I should be able to smooth the edges just fine. I just need to know on the PDF files. 11x17  or 8.5x11 sheet(s)? Or a architectural 22X34? if the smaller sizes I'll break the 1/6th sphere to fit the sheets.

USSAmerica -> RE: THE THREAD!!! (10/27/2011 8:14:14 PM)

8.5 x 11 sheets, please.  [:)]

... and thank you!

Schanilec -> RE: THE THREAD!!! (10/27/2011 8:26:42 PM)

Good. it'll be three or four sheets. Maybe a little more I'll see how it goes. One more. When is it needed?
