JapLance -> About the Italian planes in the database (9/15/2010 11:06:41 AM)

Some of the planes used by the Italian Regia Aeronautica at the beginning of the 1943 campaign have mistakes in their armament setup.

The most obvious is the MC.202 Folgore, which in the game is armed with 4x 12.7mm Breda-SAFAT machine guns, when in reality the wing guns of the last series of aircraft were 7.7mm (the early series had no guns in the wings) and were very often removed due to their uselessness in 1943.

Another Italian plane overarmed is the SAI.207, which 12 pre-production planes had only 2x 12.7mm machine guns. Only one prototype was tested with the 20mm cannons, which were to be standard on the next version of the plane, the never operational SAI.403.

Finally, the Re.2001CN was usually armed with the same standard weapons of the daylight plane. A few ones were armed with cannons, but then the wing 7.7mm MG were removed. In the game the CN has all of them at the same time.

Other non-italian planes with mistakes in their armament configuration are the Avia B.534-IV (should have 4xMG, not 3) and the IAR.80-IAR.81 (by 1943 the MG were either 2x13.2mm or 4x7.92mm).

I know many of these planes are only around for a couple of weeks in the 1943 campaign, but it makes no harm correcting them [:D].
