mac5732 -> Questions on unloading at 0/0 base/ports (9/23/2010 7:43:31 AM)

I've just started playing the game, I've been trying to unload troops at baker Island (campaign) and I can't get them to unload. I know its a 0/0, so how do you unload or get troops onto Baker/or other 0/0 to build a base/port? Do you have to start with specific units or what am I doing wrong... The ships can't dock at a 0/0 so how do I unload them.... Its my base... tks in advance

Ps. i've used smaller ships etc, and the docking button is greyed out so I can't dock. smaller ships didn't work either. tks again for any help

0 port means it has no port. You have to use an amphibious TF because it will have (abstracted) boats and such to help get people and stuff ashore. Also, naval support squads help. You will find (in addition to naval base forces) some small units that have a few air support and a bunch of naval support squads. Once you get them ashore they will really help speed up unloading.

yeh as the Japanese most my transport convoys are organized as "Amphibious" from the start to give me flexibility in making emergency landings anywhere etc

But all your troops must be in combat mode, load less efficiently, and suffer greater disruption.

Mr. Bowen, I hope you don't mind too much if I were to take your response and modify it slightly.

"... and suffer MUCH greater disruption."

And you may not be able to unload some equipment to 0 port without help of amphibious ships (AK, AP, APA, AKA, LST etc.) or without Naval Support. Trying to unload for example Engineering vehicles and radars from xAK to 0 port can be quite tricky.
