castor troy -> Naval HQs (9/25/2010 8:22:25 AM)

Hi

now that Iīve got a couple of nav HQs in my PBEM as the Allied I wondered how they look like.

240 support...

support? As a naval HQ? Shouldnīt that be NAVAL support? My air HQs got air support, my Army HQs got support and my naval HQs also only got support? What am I expected to do with them if they only have support? Guess they wonīt work like an Army HQ to be used for an assault? So with 240 support they are not more than a US base force but these at least got some other squads and devices.

Is it correct that these HQs have support squads instead of naval support?

thanks

IIRC a naval HQ provides inherent benefits. Double check the manual.

I already did and the manual said "helps speed up ship repair". Couldnīt make out any change in the "ship repair times" that are listed though. Canīt do much more than setting the HQ to combat mode so Iīm not sure if Iīve done something wrong or if you can make out any change in the repair times.

There was this old theory in WITP that a naval HQ increases the port by three levels, no idea if this is still true and no idea if it helps at all if it is at a level 9 port anyway as the oppinions on this even were differing in WITP.

Well its a way back, but i remember some discussion about this in the 1st or 2nd patch. IIRC they use to be naval support squads, but it was changed. I cant recall the exact reasoning, but maybe Don or John can remember and answer. Might have been some along the lines of HQ are admin units/personal/clerks where as naval support squads is more of a labor type unit so having as naval support squads was sorta off. <insert admiral name> prolly didnt spend too much time unloading xAKs.[;)]

Hope it helps,

Rasmus

makes sense but would a General be repairing aircraft? I would have expected no HQ to have anything else but support but air HQs are full of aviation support too. I just wanted to make sure itīs correct that a naval HQ only got support. And it still doesnīt solve my problem of what Iīm expected to do with them as theyīve got no nav support and so far I couldnīt make out any help in repairing my ships as the repair time doesnīt change at all, no matter if HQ in base or not.

michaelm75au -> RE: Naval HQs (9/26/2010 3:14:34 PM)

A Naval Hq still needs to have some Naval Support devices to assist in those Naval functions.

There seems to be such things as Naval Air HQ which just seem to be Air HQ with a nationality of USN. Is this the one you are referring to?

I agree.

Chryse -> RE: Naval HQs (9/27/2010 7:00:15 PM)

Something still does seem a bit odd though. As of 11/42 playing the allies I currently have 12,319 naval support squads available in my pools. I have used a grand total of 1,500 so far and I am accumulating them at a rate of 1,200 per month. Why give us so many if so few units actually use them?

EUBanana -> RE: Naval HQs (9/28/2010 1:18:09 PM)

IIRC some naval HQs at least really do have naval support squads. Doesn't the British navy HQ at Colombo have naval support?

sprior -> RE: Naval HQs (9/28/2010 1:27:16 PM)

Yes it does, and it's ranged too so will help at Trincomalee.
