I remember buying the first release of TOAW as well as Century of Warfare, over a decade ago. Recently been reading the forums, seen the graphic update, and thought I would give this game another run through, to see if the PO has improved and if it still is as good as I recall it being. Looks like a lot of work has gone into it since its last release, which looks more than interesting. I remember liking the Korean War scenario and the Normandy scenario, which I spent ages playing. Its downloading, and am eagerly awaiting...

I purchased yesterday!!.. I also owned the original, even installed it a few months ago and removed it right away, cause the graphics were so small..

when does the new patch come out of beta?

I have been playing around with the Korean '50-'51 scenario and some quick impressions: Yes, the AI (PO) seems better than what I remember it, although back when it was first released it was not that poor, but nothing spectacular either. Notice it seems to be doing more; it took a chunk from my right flank and sped its forces through the gap it created, which was quite interesting so this is good. I think also that graphically it has improved, and some minor interface changes which is more user friendly than it was originally. So this is also a bonus. I need to spend more time with it I guess to fully understand what is different, but so far for me it has brought back those memories I had of TOAW all those years ago when Talonsoft first released the game. Did you ever fix the jeep problem? I remember there was a flame war when some people pitted jeeps against tanks and the jeeps won the engagement?? A minor point but it created a furore!

Looking foward to those new map graphics though, looked really impressive.

Oh yes I remember reading about that in the history books. The new M4-SuperJeep. It was the answere to the Tigerphobia effect. This lightweight-open-topped & 4-wheeled vehicle was to use its speedy agility to gain the initiative vs the heavy weight panzer classes.

It looks like TOAW proved it would have been a great success if higher numbers had been ordered.

PO might not be unimportant for new players or old ones who get back into action but a capable PBEM opponent is gold worth.
