fthein -> Question (10/13/2010 3:02:48 PM)

Hi

i have buyed this game on the first day it came out but never played it because i play only against the ai. So with the new patch is it now worth to start a game? As i have no experience with Empire in Arms can the ai give me a challenge?

Hopefully someone can answer this?

Thanks
Frank

If you don't have much experience with the game itself, learning the game mechanics is challenge enough for a while and the AI is OK as a learning tool.  With v1.08 officially released, the game is now pretty solid.  This is a good time for newbies and others who have put EiANW on the shelf to get back into it.  Marshall has indicated he wants to make some modest AI improvements for v1.09 to provide more challenge.

Thanks pzgndr. I will try it out now. Btw which are the best game options to have a strong ai? Should i use Lille Sea Crossing when i play France?

Bye

Frank, there are some pros/cons to using the crossing option when playing France.  The British AI tends to overextend itself too easily so I usually leave it off.  Also it forces France to use its fleets to make any channel crossing and that's more challenging.  My thoughts for getting up to speed are to try the various options and difficulty settings, and rotate through the different major powers to get a sense for how to play them.  I know the the AI has its weaknesses but I still manage to have some fun playing the game when I get the chance.

Be sure to check out the updated user manual in the \Data\docs folder.  There are player notes at the end now.  Plus other good stuff throughout.  [;)]
