[&:] I did a test now, and turned all Arcs off on All groups. (ASW + Navel Search) --- and wow!! I just started to see all sorts of things that I never knew existed!!
[:D][:D]

lol, funny how the time can change things... I said search archs wouldnīt work for sure and that was at least 6 months real life ago... it must be the evil if itīs coming from me. Or how was it called just recently, the "attitude". [:'(]

What about the air stuff does work? I mean radar doesn't, search arcs, admin stacking has no basis from the real world, mission coordination, training pilots doesn't even require airplanes. I'm sure there is more I'm missing (like max alt sweep). So what actually does work?

just to point it out, War History isnīt a second account of mine. [;)] Donīt be so harsh.

Yes, but here's the thing. Warts and all, the game seems to have reached a balanced stasis. There are lots of warts and glitches and bugs that can drive players crazy, but many of the problems affect both sides, and those that vex just one side seem to be counterbalanced by some problem that vexes the other side.

So, the net effect is that we have a majestic, challenging, beautiful game that lends itself to satisfying competition. It's been said before that the game is like three dimensional chess on steroids. Yes, the rooks are missing part of their masonry, the queens have lost their crowns, and dry rot has set in on the pawns, but it still works.

We all hope that glitches will be fixed, but there's something to be said about not fixing a bug that affects only one side (or one side disproportionately) thus throwing the game out of balance.

P.S. All this is said with thanks to the developers for creating a monster game and working hard to address problems.

well said Canoerebel

As a matter of fact, a lot of training did occur without airplanes. Ever heard of the Link trainer?

It was used by near all powers in this game!

I really don't see the point of this whole thread. Devs know about the problem, they said they would fix it and now you think if you make a thread about it they will do it faster? No, they just might lose some time on the forum which could have been used for fixing the issue.
They have to make sure that fixing one issue will not cause many more new ones to appear, all that requires lots of time and testing.

And this bug affects both sides, not only Japan. In fact this bug might be one of the reasons while people think high altitude sweeps are so overpowered. I'm not saying they are working fine atm, but having only fraction of CAP in position with most of it still climbing when enemy sweep comes surely does not help the final outcome. Ship radars work as they should and naval air combat model is much more realistic compared with the land air battles. To be honest sweeps can't be done over sea hexes so that might also contribute to more realistic results, but the point is that if both ground radar were fixed and altitude advantage were nerfed at the same time we might suddenly get 100 threads named "Overpowered CAP"...
Patience young padawan, patience. [:)]

Land radar was working before the last patch. Something in the last patch broke it.

I oppose the request for a ground radar-only hotfix. I know there are more bugs they have squashed and are pending release and others pending fixes, but some of the more significant ones are:

- Ground radar
- Attack planes
- Search arcs
- AA performance
- Shipboard AA ammo
- Occasionally getting the enemy Combat Events instead of your own

And of course plenty of others they have worked with people on and nailed down.

Taken out the time to put together a ground radar-only hotfix would take away from the main patch that will address so many issues.

yup, these surely are the main ones at the moment. The first three are bugs, AA would be a tweak I guess and the last one is totally new to me. [X(]

I forgot to list so many things they've got in their hands - Michael also fixed that screen jump when selecting veteran pilots (so the screen will stay put for you to select the next one easily) and that alone will have hundreds of clicks per turn when doing pilot management.

The phurpess of the thred is to get (if possible) a time estimation, as it serverelly effects my personal strategy - by getting a time stimation I know how much and in what way I shall adopt. (temp adjustmens in plans, permanent adjusmtents ect ect)..

Guys calm down a new exe patch is a fair way away i.e. months if at all so dont get over happy I couldnt face another round of the peanut gallery asking are we there yet

You'll get it when it's finished and I'd also like that to be sooner rather than later, remember, the devs like playing this game as well and they don't like playing with bugs any more than we do. They will do the best they can.

Pascal_slith -> RE: REQUEST FOR HOTFIX !! (10/22/2010 6:35:52 AM)

I'm with Smeulders. The devs have done a great job of addressing bugs. Michaelm is very aware of these and has been working on the code. They'll get the fixes to us when the fixes are good and ready. Meanwhile, enjoy (and don't set search or ASW arcs [:D])

It'll be a while till my game reaches 1943, but regardless this seems like a very big bug that needs squashing ASAP.

I already squashed a big bug this morning. Damn roaches.
