Badger -> Bug in Opening Game Menus (8/20/2002 1:27:22 PM)

I just got the game about a week ago (I haven't had a lot of time to play yet, but it seems like a great game!), and I noticed a small cosmetic bug. I don't know if this is the right place to report this, but if it's not, I'm sure somebody will let me know.

If you use the mouse wheel when on any of the opening Game Menu's (Main Game Menu, Realism Options, Game Options, Prefrences or Scenario Details Menu), an empty dialog box pops up, overwriting part of the screen. This box appears to be the Load Saved Game Box (it is physically located on the screen in the same place), but it is empty. Exiting the menu will get rid of the box as will task switching (i.e. alt+tab). On the Scenario Details Menu screen in addition to the box, extra red buttons will be written to the screen, and the new buttons are the active buttons. The default buttons no longer work.

Not a big bug, but I thought it should be reported.

This bug only occours after you have already been on the load saved game screen, and then go to one of the other menus.

Can I suggest that you grab the latest drivers for both your video card and also your mouse. See if this helps.

Your mousewheel code is goofy in general. Wiggling the mouse where there is no menu to be scrolled often results in a previous dialog's menu being shown.

The mousewheel doesn't do anything on my comp except trigger some OS memory shuffle. UV doesn't show any effect. I've made sure the latest drivers are installed, so this can't be the reason. Then I've tried changing every available option of the mousewheel properties, without any visible effect.

Is there anything else I could do about it, e.g. checking some keys/values in the registry ?

Are you using a Microsoft Mouse or some other brand? I know that at least Logitech does their mousewheel code differently, and to make it work with software properly you have to turn on the "MS Office compatible" check.

I am using a Microsoft IntelliMouse Explorer and an ATI Radeon 32MB DDR Video card on a Windows XP platform. I have all the latest software updates and drivers for all these components.

My question is, can anybody else duplicate this bug?

Go to the load saved game menu or the scenario selection menu. Exit that screen and then use the mouse wheel on any other screen and you should see the empty box pop up. If I am the only one who can duplicate this bug, I will be more than happy to provide more information on my hardware and software.

Another mouse wheel bug.

When in the game, open the "View Aircraft, troop and vehicle database" or the "View ships database" exit the database and then use the mousewheel. The view box for these databases will overwrite the map screen. The view box will disappear when you click on the map.

Can someone please test this and the other mouse wheel bug and let me know if it only occours on my machine?

Thanks.
