Due to a medical issue we are looking for someone to assist and eventually take over running the MWiF fan site. This is a volunteer unpaid position with the MWiF Fan Site. You will also be placed on the beta team for MWiF and a NDA will be required for the successful candidate. Beta team requirements are necessary for acceptance. Knowledge of HTML and use of content management systems is highly desirable. Scripting capability is a definite plus. Some familiarity with Photoshop or an equivalent program is useful along with knowledge of cpanel or command line interaction with website administration. We will work with and teach as much as possible for the successful candidate. The MWiF fan site has been in development for quite awhile (March/April 2010) and is looking pretty good. Currently we have an administrator, wiki admin, and a few contributors adding content to the site/wiki. The site will be made publically available shortly before the launch of MWiF. So exactly what is in this site? Well quite a bit at this time. Here are most of the major items. - Starting with the training tutorial slideshows (designed by Steve). These have over 100 slides designed to help people learn and play the game.
- For those who prefer videos Steve created a series of movies to take players through the game. The two of these together provide a comprehensive introduction to gameplay and the interfaces.
- We also have included his Rules as Coded for easy reference and use. The final online version will be hyperlinked throughout for ease of use. RAC is currently provided as an online PDF.
- The community area allows players to identify their playing preferences and search for potential players for games based on skills, experience, preferred scenarios and much more.
- We have also provided a wiki where people can interact with the site and contribute. It has sections on strategy, game facts, and historical information on the different units in MWiF. The wiki can be expanded easily to include other areas of information as user’s desire.
- To help identify skilled players and rules experts we are working on rules for rank quiz system. Users will gain rank when they have accomplished specific quizzes demonstrating mastery of RAC. Rank is a searchable under the user profiles to find these gurus quickly. The idea here is to help people find an expert quickly when help is needed.
- At this time we are also working on an area for promoting competitive game play. While this is in the early stages there is quite a lot of room for improvement and ideas here.
- Last but not least we have articles contributed to the site from some of the personalities you have met on the Matrix forums.
Here is a liitle information about the site for those interested admins. The site has been running smoothly since March/April 2010 when started. The site has a separate administrative interface (all web driven) from the main site for easy maintenance and use. Therefore, administrative functions are somewhat automated and easy point and click interfaces for backups etc... are in place. Because of this maintaining the site occupies very little time. Currently 1-2 hours a month at worst. Adding new content can require more time. However, that is dependent on what you plan to include and can be a few minutes for a new article or hours of development for a tournament ladder system. The extreme flexibility here allows the site to be modified and changed as a new admin would like build their vision. So, if you are interested please send me a PM outlining your qualifications and any questions you may have. Finalists will be reviewed by Steve/Matrix for inclusion on the team.
