When I tried to install, I wasn't asked which drive/directory to install, and it proceeded to install everything in C:\Matrix Games\...

The only problem is my C drive is pretty small (on purpose), and most of my programs are installed in D:. Is there a way to force installation to a different drive/directory? This is the first matrix game that I have purchased that doesn't allow you to specify the path.

If you have enough space on C:\ to extract the individual game installers you should find that each individual game allows you to specify an install location.  So that first extraction you see is just unpacking the HCE, ANW 3.10, ANW 3.9.4, and H3 3.6.3 installers.  As each game is installed (to the location you specify) the installer is deleted from C:\.

Ah, thanks very much. I got nervous when I saw the first extraction and I canceled immediately. I should have enough space for the extraction so next time I will let it complete.

If I may make a suggestion, next time please have the extraction folder specifiable. I don't think I am the only one who has a small C: drive to isolate the boot partition from programs/data partitions.

Thanks,
Robert

I am - for the time being - only interested in installing HCE and the new ANW 3.10, and I have ANW 3.94 installed.
What would be the best course of action installation-wise? I mean is release 3.10 a standalone version that requires uninstalling 3.94, can 3.94 be updated or is it better to uninstall 3.94 anyway?

It is designed to install into a different folder than the old ANW so it shouldn't interfere with current install.
