Dancing Bear -> Possible fix to sim phase problems (unofficial) (11/13/2010 12:49:22 PM)

Hi all
It occured to me that the problem is related to how players have updated the game, and that they have missed an upgrade step (1.07).

For instance, those of us who have been playing for a long time have used every update and their games seem to working fine, while new players, who are having trouble, have not (this also applies to long term players who have recently re-installed the game).

According to the previous instructions, to install the game, you are meant to go from version 1 to version 1.06.03 to version 1.08.04, but I think this might be wrong. There was some updates to the game database in 1.07 that addressed game security (i.e. to make players aware of double file loadings, and pre-rolling of dice). I don't know if this database updates are making it into the game if you jump over this version during installation. If so, any games that don't go through the 1.07 step have a different database structure to those that have, which is not good (this would be very important for any one involved in a file exchange battle, or the host or Spain).

I think the solution is for those gamers who missed the 1.07 step to re-install there games. Can someone who is about to start a game (Krak?) (or is in a group experiencing this problem), do this and then run a 1.5 month test to see if this clears up the problem? Everyone who missed 1.07 will have to do this. I can't do it, as my game is working fine.

I'm not sure where you get 1.07 from now. I think you'll need to go to the members part of the site.

I can only speak the game im in.
We only used official patches, so we upgraded from the official 1.07 but we still have bugs in the diplomacy phase.

Bresh

Using TGHQ we are only allowed to use official patches so were all using 1.07 xx for a long time without these simul problems. I know that Bresh's game had a bug before upgrading and 1.08.xx was meant to fix it. My game was moving along fine pre-1.08.xx

However, I think you are correct. I installed the game on my new laptop in early Oct and I'm the host. I believe that the problems started after. I believe I followed the instruction to patch to 1.06 and then 1.08.

I'll do a new install using your patch instructions and see what happens.

PS Members Section only has 1.06 & 1.08 - nothing is easy with EIA. However, Google search found 1.07 in a second.

Regards, Angus

Are you guys saying we need to install the game then sequentially patch 1.06.3, 1.07.01 and 1.08.04?

I hope this is the solution. But really why aren't all these in one file?

[:)]Success!! Through to Oct Reinforcement phase.

Reinstalled EIA - patched 1.06/1.07/1.08
Started on Oct Dip phase but completely knackered.
Used RU save from Sept Eco phase, did backups and played all countries until Oct Reinf phase.
Spain Dip phase couldn't find any files from other countries - however clicked for PBEM file a few times and worked.

A big thank you to Dancing Bear!

Things are looking up :)

Hey guys:

I am looking into this to verify. I am at a loss how skipping the 1.07 upgrade would cause this BUT that's on the surface! I need to dig a little deeper then perhaps make a stand-alone hot fix!

Thank you
