For the game not to accept data changes during a GC it would have to know that data has been changed. To know this it would need to have made and kept duplicates of all original data files. Then, every time the GC is played, the game would have to run a comparison check between the current, possibly modified data files and its duplicate originals. Does all this seem more likely than the game just using the current data and then erroring if there is a conflict?
