boldrobot -> Changing difficulty settings? (11/16/2010 7:41:13 PM)

Is there any way to change the difficulty settings in the middle of a campaign? I'm a few hours into a campaign as the Germans and just noticed that I accidentally checked the option for the Allies to Always Follow Orders when I began the campaign. I'd really rather not have this on, but I don't want to start my campaign over either. Nothing happens when I try to click it. Am I just going to have to live with this setting, or is there something I am missing?

Use berndn's Save Editor

Wow, thanks.

Please make a backup copy of the campaign first :D
No idea if it works with the current beta. Although I like CC a lot I wait at the moment for a stable release :)
And I'm sidetracked helping the guys to iron out last, very small bugs with this true love: http://www.sportscarlegends.net/ It's over 10 years old but makes so much fun but need a little bit here and there and I'll try to help as much as possible ;)

Wow,
that's really cool,first time I had seen that.

Will it work for WAR?

Is there any way of changing a Commanders characteristics during a GC as well?
I.E.
Aggression
Caution
Charisma
and Tactics

Yes, the save Game Editor works for WAR.

Edit those Commander characteristics in BGroups.txt

Platoon_Michael -> RE: Changing difficulty settings? (11/17/2010 1:57:33 PM)

I knew I could edit them in the BGroups.txt file just wasn't sure if the game would accept them being changed during a GC.

xe5 -> RE: Changing difficulty settings? (11/17/2010 2:28:09 PM)

For the game not to accept data changes during a GC it would have to know that data has been changed. To know this it would need to have made and kept duplicates of all original data files. Then, every time the GC is played, the game would have to run a comparison check between the current, possibly modified data files and its duplicate originals.

Does all this seem more likely than the game just using the current data and then erroring if there is a conflict?

Thank-you for the answer.
And no I don't know much about the game.

One chunk of data that is duplicated in the save files are the VL locations.
This allowed the CCReq tool to modify VL locations without having to edit the .BTD files.

Andrew Williams -> RE: Changing difficulty settings? (11/17/2010 6:30:44 PM)

That would be to track VL control?

xe5 -> RE: Changing difficulty settings? (11/17/2010 7:49:54 PM)

More so to better keep a running count of the overall VL score I would think. VL control can be determined as a consequence of the save file's map control data. If the megatile in which a VL is located is controlled by X, so is the VL ...

Andrew Williams -> RE: Changing difficulty settings? (11/17/2010 8:46:38 PM)

Ah yeh, the score count is of those VL's what I meant.

If you move any VL's by editing the BTD file (modding) mid GC your game can go very wonky.
