CV Zuikaku -> How to starve Chungking? (11/18/2010 6:40:25 PM)

Chungkink- the last important Chinese base left on the map.it is 12/43 in my AI game. Chungking has been under siege for 8 months now, but I just can not starve the base. I loaded game as allied player to see what's going on... base has no supplies left, but most of the Chinese units have internal supplies left. And many of new units are respawning there so they have more AV then I do. They are bombed daily- but to no effect. Is there any way to eliminate the base before Soviets activate?

I think if you play on "hard" difficulty, AI troops will never suffer to starvation whatever you do.

It does it on Historical as well.

As someone else once said "That sucker CHEATS!"

The locals live off the land a lot better than the imperial invaders.

Serves you right! [:'(]

Not it doesn't, on historical there are no supply cheats. But Chungking has free supply allocation that cannot be destroyed, as long as in Allied hands.

I think it is impossible to realy starve Chungking without permanently attacking the enmy to increase supply drain. You get a few 100 supply each turn which is usualy enough to maintain your units at AV level.

And in direct combat the AI nevery cheats supply. I played on very hard and the AI indeed cheats a lot of supply to rear bases but nevery into bases which are besieged.

Sredni -> RE: How to starve Chungking? (11/19/2010 9:44:55 AM)

The AI may not create supply, but it's units don't seem to be effected by a lack of supply the same way a players units are. With zero supply a players units will slowly disable down to nothing but an ai's units with zero supply will stay at relatively high AV levels. They're even able to mitigate small amounts of daily disablements from bombing and bombardments if the damage per day isn't too high.

I beg to differ.  I play Historical.  I don't have the time or experience to invest otherwise.  I watch the AI cheat all the time with regards to supply.  It may not be as much, as bad, or in specific ways.  But it does.

Seems to me that there have been a lot of posts about the difficulty of successfully concluding the Seige of Chungking as the Japanese. Japan went to war in 1937 against the Chinese. I seem to have forgotten when it was that they finally overcame all Chinese resistance. Can anybody fill me in on that?

Could it be that it never happened? Apparently the Japanese weren't blessed IRL with such brilliant leaders as those who fight this game. I'm not trying to be an a$$hole but when I read thread after thread asking about how to finally and for sure finish off the Chinese once and for all I kinda wonder if maybe the whole game system has the bigger problem. IRL the Japanese couldn't pull off a final victory against the Chinese in 4 years when nobody was especially interested in or significantly helping the Chinese. Later; major IJA military units could go forward wherever/whenever they wanted but the IJAs efforts pretty much amounted to punching a bucket of water and trying to keep one's hands dry.
