Ron Belcher -> Scuttling a loss cause!? (11/27/2010 4:24:00 AM)

Playing a solid game via Pbem... using the Guadalcanal scenario. I'm on the USN side of this.
Now, I have had a couple of my APs on a few occassions... bombed from above.

2 were sunk... 1 is limping to find a repair port... 1 is actually DIW (dead in the water... did I
need to say that? lol[:D]).

It's with that lame duck, that I want to commit to Davy Jones' Locker! ...question is... HOW?[X(]

If its in a port its as simple as looking at the vessel in the port list and clicking the "scuttle" button. If its at sea ive no idea. I have never bothered to scuttle something at sea. Its going to sink anyway if its that bad off and frankly if the enemy is crapping on my fleet id rather have the extra targets to make the enemy split strikes etc.

USN didn't generally as a rule scuttle ships with crew in open ocean. Keep pushing her towards a port she will either sink or they will get off their arses and patch her.

Kamakazi was not real popular around the bars either.[:D]

You do give your opponent less victory points though if you scuttle- 75% from memory. Might be worth it if the situation is hopeless.

You can scuttle at sea just as easily at port. However, there is a certain threshold of damage required before the scuttle button will show up. It will be at the bottom of the ship's screen. Has to be a lot of flotation damage before you are allowed to scuttle.

Aside for a few saved VP, your captain will not die if you scuttle. There is a chance he will die if you let the ship sink.

So, that's the scuttlebutt on this.

[Sorry, I couldn't resist. ][:D]
