If you look in the dedication section, your name is first, Sami. I'd shake your hand if you were closer to Texas than Finland. Thank you, my friend. Our dream has come true.

sami heimola -> RE: SP Civil War now available! (12/2/2010 10:32:37 AM)

Thanks about dedication Matt. It's been looong journey to see complete and final version ready, isn't it[:)]. You have followed my vision almost perfectly.

I have some questions that came my mind as I checked mod:

In generally everything seem to be ok but why US/CSA Cavalry flags in menus (those OOBs seem to be empty)[X(]... What is their meanings?
I understand that those Navy OOBs are made only for sea battle scen designers, right? And could be possible to add some maps (for example Gettysburg and Antietam from 1st version) and some scenarios later? Now player must load some European pre-made map (otherwise you will get some desert/jungle map[;)])...

mkr8683 -> RE: SP Civil War now available! (12/3/2010 12:34:41 AM)

Yessir, it has been a long time. But it's by no means final or complete, tovaari. All four of us who were working on it got burnt out, and we felt unanimously that since the mod was at least playable, it should be released for the general public to begin making scenarios and maps. After working on OBs, sounds, graphics, and a few scenarios, we felt that the players would adopt it as a community project. I expect to see some quality scenarios, campaigns, and maps from the community. Maps from the original version may not work since the scale is much smaller now. The cavalry OBs will be filled out in future versions, along with the naval side of things.

sami heimola -> RE: SP Civil War now available! (12/3/2010 3:57:03 PM)

Ok nice to know. I didn't knew that scale is smaller than original[X(]... Maybe I'm blind[;)]. But let's hope that someone will do even 1 map for this scale... Scens are not so necessary IMO. Btw,I can't wait your Cavalry OOBs!

mkr8683 -> RE: SP Civil War now available! (12/3/2010 6:11:29 PM)

Originally, the scale was one infantry icon = one regiment, one gun icon = one battery. Now, one infantry icon = +- 30 men, and one gun icon = one gun. An infantry company consists of a company commander, two sections of riflemen, ammo bearers and ammo. A battery now consists of a battery commander, several guns, and limbers and caissons for each gun. This is a lot like what I was pushing for when we first started out all those years ago. Kevin is the one who will be handling the OBs, so if you have suggestions, be sure to let him know.

This is what I mean by players adopting the mod and making it a community project. The rail fences, covered bridge, tents, and flags on staffs are all custom terrain and do not affect gameplay. This is from my Philippi scenario, all this will be included in one package.

Also from the Philippi scenario.

mkr8683 -> RE: SP Civil War now available! (12/3/2010 6:35:29 PM)

A supplement adding one new scenario, custom terrain, one new icon, one new sound, and one updated sound has been posted at MediaFire. Whenever the Enhanced site comes back up, I'll post a link there.

EDIT - The update has been taken down for the moment. You can still get the scenario in the SP Civil War section at enhanced.freeforums.org. Be sure to also check out Flashfyre's Devil's Den and Little Round Top scenarios!

mkr8683 -> RE: SP Civil War now available! (12/3/2010 9:15:52 PM)

Casualties will be added to the custom terrain slot. Confederates are being worked on, as well as destroyed artillery and dead horses. Far from desiring to portray the gore that's so prevalent in many first-person shooters of today, I hope that these icons will remind us, especially Americans, of the costs of the bloodiest war in our short history. I hope it will remind us that the dead men, Confederate and Union, in the Brady and Gardner photographs were real human beings. All that being said, these are intended for use on maps where previous fighting is meant to have occurred.

Alby -> RE: SP Civil War now available! (12/4/2010 2:13:52 AM)

Hey Matt, for those who use modswap, can these just be placed in the mod file, will the INI file match up?

mkr8683 -> RE: SP Civil War now available! (12/4/2010 3:31:24 AM)

Well crap, I never considered it [image]http://spwaw.com/phpBB2/images/smiles/icon_confused2.gif[/image] I don't use Modswap as I don't play the WW2 version of SP anymore. Maybe Modswap users will have to wait for future versions, or just back the files up.

Sorry guys!

When I try to click on mediafire download image it goes nowhere.
How do I download the mod file?
Mike

keep trying, media fire may just be busy or down at the moment

FlashfyreSP -> RE: SP Civil War now available! (12/27/2010 3:27:36 PM)

The custom terrain file will work if dropped into the Mod file itself; those terrains are just "overlays", and are in the Ter86 SHP file, which is already being loaded with the Mod. Right now only the zoom4 level shows the correct icon, the others just show the green hex "holder" icon. I hope to have the other levels completed soon, so that all 4 zooms will be consistent.
