best greetings, i are not an elite "trooper" but may say some about that questions... 1- in air groups you set (in each air wing) the air commitment, also, there are one tab on the top menus for [ Air Doctrine ] where you set at what readiness, at what distance and how much aircraft (i think) will at maximun fly in each mission, air support is automatic, but bombing, although secondary sometimes, is manual (is better to let the air units to support in automatic mode but sometimes you want to bomb just before a land attack or to take down an enemy fort) 2- all land forces have to be managed manually, not so much an issue with german/axis side/faction, but soviets have a lot more of units, and more increase as game goes on, although, somehow mitigated by the soviet allow to merge rifle divisions and tank brigades on rifle/tank corps at 3-1 rate, tank corps have some equipment than the tank brigades dont have, meanwhile, rifle corps are created for make powerfull attack units, in defense you can defend more countryside with more units, to find the balance between making a powerfull soviet "counter-attack" force and manage to make a frontline that can stop the superior german army is a hard task most of the time and some of the management challenges you may find. 3- oil production is completely automatic, as well, all other production, you can set from the factories tab, on top menu some changes on equipment, but is not encouraged, as you can miss some equipment that may be in the unit TOE (aka.. table of equipment, or unit order of battle, from rifle squads to tanks), so, if you make use of the management to make more tanks you may be short on oil, also, there are some options, pre-game for configuration about transport and logistics that do exactly that, in example, if you set logistic level for the axis at 150% they will receive +50% extra supply, so, some way to recreate the oil issue is to set maybe the logistics for the axis below 100%, at 90% or 80%, as higher difficulty levels encourage, anyway, attrition on tanks and afv (armored fighting vehicles) may keep down the issue with oil, for me, oil against attrition is the lesser of the problems for the german. 4- when you overrun some airbases or headquarters you may take some (few) oil and/or regular supply, but i guess taking the soviets factories (aside it is the main objetive) dont add extra production to german/axis alliance. 5- Berlin is portrayed beautifully (as Moscow) with 3 hexes and is the main soviet objetive, Berlin and make the german to control less than a fixed victory points (capital is 5 victory points, some urban hexes (usually factories) are 3 vp. and cities are worth 1 victory point. 6- finland start at war with russia, as historically, Finland was at war with soviet union and i guess is one of the main reasons for Finland, historically, join the axis alliance, mainly, if the soviet make commitment enough forces to the war with finland that would make finland surrender (worths some victory points, so, his surrender may make the german campaign victory even more difficult) but these soviet troops will keep bussy and that may release some extra freedom on the germans, allowing them to reach leningrad, the soviet player/side have to make ready the defense of leningrad before the germans arrive, some that depends on experience+dexterity by the players and how is going the war on the other sectors (-as a side note, there are some restrictions, germany units may not enter "main" finland" and finland troops may dont make attacks around south of leningrad) is a good game, and there are few bugs, for not say i dont have seen nor one bug or crash from release day, playing the game, and there are lesser scenarios with about 20 turns, focusing on the assault (drive) to leningrad, moscow, and so on, added to the tutorial scenario. my only issue may be that there are much soviet forces to manage, but take on mind that most units (some speak about thousands) are support units, that are attached most of the time to front-line units (the player manage that), war in the east and guardians of graxia may be the two better games i have purchased this year, hope the advice help somehow, with best regards, Murat30.
