saintsup -> Hudge delay before combat start (12/12/2010 6:33:58 PM)

Hello,

I'm starting with 41 campaign.

I have a hudge delay (several seconds) between the pop-up of combat window which is immediate and the actual start of combat (numbers are changing).
I have a fairly recent computer and everything else works fine.

Any idea ??

Try to set the sound fx volume to 0 in preferences and see if it helps.

Btw, what version you play?

This is the same problem I am experiencing. It seems to get better when I exit the game completely between turns and restart it. I also note that my CPU usage for WitE never goes above 40-50% when playing the AI. I am wondering if it is AI related b/c it appears that when I play both sides Human that combat resolves quickly.

Guys, please report versions you play.

Happened with 1.0; 1.0 w/hotfix; and now I'm on 1.01 Beta. Same in all three.

Dual Core Intel 7450 2.16GHz; 6 GB RAM. Win 7; running in Basic mode. Nothing else running except the manual open in acrobat.

I'm on 1.01 Beta and I have the sound effect volume at 0

Likewise. I have taken two AVI videos with a screen capture program - they are AVIs - about 30-45 MB each. I could probably send these to someone via u-send it or something similar.

The most time consuming operation during combat is air strike forming. It scans all the airbases and trying to form the strike. In 1.01 we did air strike forming functions to be more responsive (to avoid black screens), but this also means higher resolution time. Will try to optimize it, but air strike forming is still quite complex.

Hmm - I guess I am not being clear in what I see.

1) After restarting the game, it runs fine - very little delay. I have an avi of this.

2) After running several turns, combat formation runs very slowly.

So - the combat screen comes up and lists the units on each side. Then, there is a delay. The delay is very long after playing for a while; upon a restart though, the same scenario and similar combats, the delay is very short.

Helpless -> RE: Hudge delay before combat start (12/12/2010 7:34:18 PM)

Very odd. If could upload them to some place I'd take a look. Thanks.

vaned74 -> RE: Hudge delay before combat start (12/12/2010 7:41:10 PM)

I will upload two AVIs to sendspace and send you a link. It is almost like clockwork after about 20 battles or so, everything starts slowing down and the 'pre combat' delay is larger and larger.

Here are some combat resolutions of similar type combats in locations prone to lots of air (ie AGC, Central Front in 44):

And again after a restart...

Notice it is clean and fast. This would tend to point to a leak or something if the delay builds up after many many battles?

vaned74 -> RE: Hudge delay before combat start (12/12/2010 8:42:38 PM)

I should say that lest it sound like I am complaining too much, great game! I thought there were things from production ,etc in WiR that I would miss, but, this game is the best I have seen for operational land combat. I am certain it will only get better as well as the patches and upgrades come out.

Thanks again!

Let me know if I need to upload more screen capture files or provide any additional data.

Helpless -> RE: Hudge delay before combat start (12/12/2010 8:52:05 PM)

Thanks you for the avi files. It looks odd. I've tried to play a little 1944 and didn't see any slowdowns. But I'm playing 1.01+ version with some bugs fixed. Will ask our testers to check this out.

Grouchy -> RE: Hudge delay before combat start (12/12/2010 10:20:37 PM)

Can confirm i didn't experienced the delay in V1.00 but do notice a delay using v1.01 Beta 1 (playing the 1941-1945 campaign)
