Magnum88 -> Combat Resolution Report Losses (12/17/2010 8:03:30 AM)

Playing the Road to Smolensk I noticed a confusing Battle Resolution Report. Playing as Germany I attacked the 17th NVKD Regiment just NW of Brest-Litovsk. NVKD units seem to retreat more than route due to their higher morale but in this case the 17th retreated 4 times before they finally routed after the 5th battle during Turn 1. The unusual part was the number of men lost over all these battles. The unit starts with 1465 men and none of the battles had any support units or reserves commit but the total loses were over 2000. The 4th battle they had around 950 men defending and they took 842 loses but the next battle the had 842 men defending[&:]. Bug or am I missing something in how loses are reported/men replaced in the middle of a turn?

Could you post a screenshot containing such a combat report. It sounds unusual to say the least, and if what you're saying is literally happening (the regiment losing more men then it has, and gaining manpower) it's a bug.

FOW doesn't skew results seen by the opponent?

I had FoW off (still learning the ropes) but unfortunately I deleted my previous saves. Trying to recreate it I think I found out the reason. There was a HQ unit in a hex the NKVD regiment retreated into and the Battle Resolution does not list the HQ as a defender in the subsequent battle. They probably took loses and are the reason for the disparity in numbers.
