Renaming designs? (Full Version)

With 1.0.6.0 I can't seem to figure out how to rename a design. I can't even make a new design because a design can't have a blank name! What am I doing wrong?

Side note, is there an IRC channel commonly used for this game?

If you haven't built any ships/stations of that design, then you can rename it. The box to do so, is just about the list of components you have added to the design. If you've already built a ship, then you need to use the Copy as New option or upgrade the design (upgrade only works if you actually have something better to upgrade).

No clue on IRC.

Yeah, even when I create a new design I see no box that lets me rename, and clicking in around the name and mashing on the keyboard does nothing. Either my install is messed up, not I'm just not understanding how to rename a design at all.

It works exactly like you would expect, click in the name box and then type to change the name. Sounds like you might have some kind of issue. I have attached a screenshot with the relevant area inside a red rectangle and with an arrow pointing to it, if clicking in that area and then typing isn't doing anything then there is something wrong with your system/game.

Oh thanks for that, I was clicking on the name on the top left corner of the window. Maybe the interface could be made more friendly by making it possible to change the name in both places?

Doesn't really seem necessary when there is a big "Name:" field available and you now know where it is.
