Several reasons: 1: The rights to sell games using the engine belongs to whatever company owns the remains of SSI. 2: The basic engine is five years old, archaic in game terms. 3: The engine does not do infantry and cavalry formations well. It can do battles from the 1880s and later. I've done Boer, Matabele, and Great War scenarios. The inability to change formation, and indicate unit facing (I refer to close order days when units fired by volley, in formation) makes doing earlier battles dicy at best. Someone will correct me if I'm wrong. troopie
