edburge -> Cannot find the 1st USMC Division (12/21/2010 8:55:47 PM)

I am playing the full campaign. It is February 2, 1942 and I was looking for the 1st Marine Division. I could not find them on the map nor are they listed as an arrival unit in the ground reinforcements list. What happened to them?

The Division will arrive broken down in regiments.

1st Marines arrives on 19 May 42.
5th Marines arrives on 19 May 42.
7th Marines arrives on 19 Mar 42.

There is an engineer and artillery unit that needs to be recombined to make the division whole, too.

Is there something out there that shows all the divisions in the game?

All that is needed to recombine the Division is the three Marine regiments.

Open up the game editor and load the scenario. The database section for land units will tell you which units arrive in pieces and what they combine to. It may take a little bit of educating yourself before you fully understand it, but all the fields in the database correspond with things in the game and most are visible in game in one way or another.

Oops you're right. I was thinking of the 2d Marine Division which requires the 2d Engineers. I figured if was good for the 2d, it was good for the 1st.

So if I put the three regients in the same base will they combine automatically or do I have to do something to them to combine them?

Ed

You have to combine them.  When everything is right, a button will become enabled on the unit screen for units that can combine.  Sometimes units can't combine because they have different HQs or one fragment has upgraded to new devices and the others haven't, so it isn't 100% guaranteed that you will be able to recombine them immediately upon getting them all in the same place at the same time.

Bill is correct (although I find the editor difficult to do searches on) or until Tracker displays this I would say the better solution is to run witpload on the Scen which will generate the csv / xls files;
This is achieved by opening a command window in SCEN folder and typing
witploadae.exe /e /s1
(where the number is the scenario number)
open witploc001 with Excel...

Another way to check in game is to click on the 'Unit Organization' button in the unit info screen.  This will bring up what Division the unit is a sub unit of and the other sub unit components (also the other sub unit locations or ETA's).  I have found this very useful.

This also helps track if units get split up during transport.
