Wow!

What an epic game I just finished.
Yeah, I was Beta Tester so I should know what to expect, but it's always a surprise at how it plays out.

I could have just whacked them when they showed up, but I let it play out as it was intended to be.


The Shakturi managed to claim a handful of systems spreading from the left to the right side of the Galaxy - not something I was looking forward too.

By the time all the cards fell into place it wasn't a pretty picture.
I was on good terms with most of the other Empires and had carefully accepted a few MDP's. I was wanting the Dhayut taken out before the trouble began, but no luck there.

My first Fleet (3 Capitals, 5 Cruisers, 7 Destroyers) got waxed in the first encounter and it wasn't even in the Shakturi home system [X(]

That's about when I lost my first planet - KaBoom.

My next Fleet had one goal/target, and it succeeded but I lost a third of it.
I sent this one to attack a weakly defended system, and threw in a couple "Floating City" Capitals I designed [;)]
Even with all that, talk about a fire-fight . . . .

I managed to get most of the other Empires into the mix, and a good thing too.
The Shakturi had Fleets all over the Galaxy.
I don't think without their (other Empires) help I'd have been able to hold off the Shakturi the way they were rolling. I needed the other Empires to at least distract them while I tried to co-ordinate my efforts.

Some truly epic battles in this one, it went back and forth a couple times - really surprising.


Oh, and did I mention that I had completed the Tech Tree by the time this all happened?
I had some truly decent firepower, and it was only enough with the help of my Allies [sm=Cool-049.gif]

So they appear later in the game?  I mean,  ive seen the list of empires,  im playing sandbox plus with both stories on,  and they dont appear in the list,  meaning that they later appear as an empire?   The first people i encountered are the Ancient Guardians,  i would love to see the Shakturi apear and start messing with all empires including mine,  sometimes I love a little bit of chaos.

Plus i did bought the game Civ 5,  man,  im so very disappointed with that game,  too much eye candy and less candy to bite.

That was just the first half hour, the whole war was three or four nail biting hours. They only had 7 to 9 colonies when they finally lit the fuse.

They probably would have attacked much sooner, but they put me in a situation where I was able to stall them from going to war a couple of times.

I also just fought the Shakturi for the first time.  Of course, when the "Refugees" arrived I knew exactly what they where (having read the galactopedia, gotten a lot of the lore already, and having half a brain) and proceeded to try to pound them into dust.  Of course, they just so happened to be surrounded by their little insect friends, making my endeavors a little harder then I thought when several wars broke out.  And then they decided to reveal themselves.

The final battle was, to say the least, damn epic.  It lasted a good hour or two, and moved through several different systems as I retreated for fuel, regrouped, attacked, pushed foward, retreated... In the end I managed to take their capital, barely holding out on the space side of things and the planet side of things.  Just as my last ships where falling did I take the capital.

Man I wanna enable the plot now lol

Quick question, are there any unbalancing factors to the expansion plot?
What I mean is, clusters of advanced ships laying about like in the normal plot... which I found to be quite annoying

When you get the Alliance, all previous Victory Conditions are superseded by a new set of Victory Conditions.

I think this is what you are asking about?

Hmm I'm not sure to understand. I thought that with the storyline on, a new victory condition came when the shakturis are seen. A condition like "if you kill the Shakturis, then you win, despite all other victory conditions".

I just killed the Refugees as soon as they appeared in the game ; is it a problem for the storyline... ?
(I now have 1.600.000 in cashflow... A bit strange for colonizing just one colony)

100 years in to the game now,  with both story options on and sanboxmode,  75%  of the galaxy explored,  at war with 3 empires,  and met 20 races already including the ancient guardians,  something im missing here?  or does the 20 existing empires is the max capacity and the game wont create more because it reached its max races because is hardcoded??????   Or having both options makes them appear for a long time?
