Space Clusters. Period.

Thank you very much! [sm=00000436.gif]

nammafia -> RE: The best update in RTOF (12/22/2010 10:18:59 PM)

Constructors are actually building research stations.  Before expansion, constructors never build research stations in my game.

Simulation01 -> RE: The best update in RTOF (12/22/2010 10:53:03 PM)

What is "RTOF"?  Did you mean ROTS?

At any rate I consider everything added to be pretty awesome!

DasTactic -> RE: The best update in RTOF (12/23/2010 4:26:24 AM)

I'm loving the clusters as well. :)

Hehe about right. Seems I lost a significant battle against my keyboard...

Also I did not want to belittle any other change that made it into the expansion, but space clusters simply hit the nail IMO.
Minimal change, huge impact on gameplay. And fun.

Aures -> RE: The best update in ROTS (12/23/2010 7:26:37 AM)

I guess I can't just point to interface improvements generically, so I will say the new tech system. The varied and evenly spaced clusters are great though (but there are a few other things on my list of great improvements besides interface changes and aspects of the new tech system before you get to the new map types) and varied clusters has joined the list of galaxy types I regularly use.

EDIT: You could edit the topic name if you like, but I think it is funnier if left as is and what you mean is obvious from the context anyway.

Tacit_Exit -> RE: The best update in ROTS (12/23/2010 10:09:02 AM)

I have to agree its a great addition; add a 'place one starting empire/cluster' setting and it would be perfect.

Data -> RE: The best update in ROTS (1/9/2011 2:03:56 PM)

loaded games are paused when loaded? WOW
i mean all the mentioned new features are great but we've discussed so much about these that when i saw this new option (that i dind't knew or heard about) it immediatelly impressed me

Data -> RE: The best update in ROTS (1/9/2011 2:23:14 PM)

i realize that maybe i'll post here every time i hit a new feature but i have to applaud the new game editor options (especially the fact you can add or remove resources from a planet); the testing possibilities this opens up lead to more hours of immersion

BigWolfChris -> RE: The best update in ROTS (1/9/2011 2:57:25 PM)

My favoured part is the new tech tree
Now hopefully we will soon be able to fully mod it and make it a large one :) hehe

WoodMan -> RE: The best update in ROTS (1/9/2011 6:22:34 PM)

My favoured part is the new modding capabilities [:D]

But overall, everything in the expansion was a job well done, hopefully more patches and expansions to come [8D]

Data -> RE: The best update in ROTS (1/9/2011 7:08:10 PM)

correct, i think this is the first game were i found so much to improve without being dissapointed by this; what we already have is great...what we'll have next will be greater

Data -> RE: The best update in ROTS (1/9/2011 7:44:34 PM)

another one that i found useful and didn't find it mentioned so far....you can change the speed of the game while paused and the game remains paused

James009 -> RE: The best update in ROTS (1/9/2011 9:11:01 PM)

I don't think I could play without my clusters :D

My favorite is the research changes.

I'm very glad I bought the expansion... I don't think I could have played without it.

Data -> RE: The best update in ROTS (1/9/2011 9:19:08 PM)

I must say all the new tech reminds me of MOO2. It's great how this game uses the best features of it's great predecessors while improving and taking them further; this aside from it's clear originality. Even if Elliot would not have said it himself, it's obvious that he's also a 4x gamer that wanted to use the good work that's already been done and create what was missing. The result I think will lead us to even more enjoyable expansions while the patches iron out the lose ends.

I forsee a long future for this one, no obvious setbacks at the momment - that we know off :)

Hmm, I am missing where you can add or remove resources from within the game editor. How can I do this?

BigWolfChris -> RE: The best update in ROTS (1/10/2011 12:15:39 AM)

Double click the desired planet or asteroid and you'll see about half-way down the new box an area to add and remove resources

Igard -> RE: The best update in ROTS (1/10/2011 1:05:32 AM)

I like having the ability to add more than the 11 default shipsets for mods. Even though it's still a little buggy. [;)]

Data -> RE: The best update in ROTS (1/10/2011 7:04:20 AM)

modders rule, my deepest respects...at some point i also used the star trek and star wars mods, great work
now i like to play the game as it is, to enjoy it's original music, shipsets etc; but mods will come back for sure

live long and prosper

cmdrnarrain -> RE: The best update in ROTS (1/10/2011 3:49:23 PM)

New tech screen.  Now if their was more of difference between techs things would be peachy keen.

Thankyou Data, I know I speak for all the modders when I say that means alot to us. [:)]

I love the original races and storyline too. Who couldn't be blown away by those Shakturi? Literally!

I always jump back to the original races from time to time. It's fun to have lots of mods running with a savegame for each of them. Usually I can only keep track of 2 though. [:D]

Data -> RE: The best update in ROTS (1/11/2011 12:43:15 PM)

from the manual, speaking about the new navigation toolbar

"Some of the lists allow you to multi-select ships (shift-click) and perform actions on them as a
group. Thus from the “Military Ships” list you can shift-click items to select a group of military
ships, and then form them into a fleet by clicking the “Create New Fleet” Action button below
the Selection Panel."

all I can say is WOW [&o]

Data -> RE: The best update in ROTS (1/11/2011 3:37:46 PM)

from the manual again, on the expanstion planner

"The list can be sorted by any column and also filtered by any resource.
Double-clicking on a column heading will clear any previous sorting and return to the default
sort order."

not only very cool but important also as it will let us know what the AI considers as our most important targets
i think this is also a new feature as I don't remember having this in the vanilla

Data -> RE: The best update in ROTS (1/11/2011 5:48:49 PM)

stealth also better explained and more appealing now

Visibility Range = (stealth rating / ship size) x 50%
