oweerts -> Loading maps (12/24/2010 1:06:14 AM)

Hi All,
then
Thanks to help from AW and Teddy, I have been able to play mods for COI. I am having problems loading the maps, however. I have been saving the zipped files into Close Combat\Close Combat III\Maps. I then try to unzip the files into the same destination but I always get an error from telling me there is an error in opening and unable to extract the files. I have tried this for both GW and Vietnam, so I am supposing there is a problem at my end.
Once again, thank you for any help.

Olaf

Move those new maps out of that main Maps folder into another CCIII folder, open up those new maps, CTRL + A, move all to main Maps folder. That should fix your problem.
In future when saving any other stuff, I always just click "save" (no destination) and the zipped file turns up in my downloads section where I can extract from there to my relevant file.

Hi Teddy,

Thanks for the advice. I made another folder outside of close combat III. I then extracted the files to the Maps folder of COI and got the same error of extraction message. I presume the map pack files are meant to be finally extracted to the Maps folder? (i.e. C:\Program Files\Close Combat\Close Combat III\Maps ?

thanks,

Olaf

Hi Teddy,

I followed your advice correctly this time and got success. Thanks for that.

Glad you're finally up and running, oweerts!

oweerts -> RE: Loading maps (1/1/2011 4:46:47 AM)

Hi Teddy,

I should say! I have had CC5 Afrika and WaR ABtF up and going for some time (amazingly, for me, without difficulty). I would like to ask you if you could help me yet again. The problem, this time is that with the GW mod for COI, I keep getting the CD required message. I have downloaded the file from the website that says will fix theproblem, but it doesn't make any difference. Now, from past experience, I'll bet it's something small but I can't see what.... any ideas?

Cheers,
Olaf

Andrew Williams -> RE: Loading maps (1/1/2011 5:15:23 AM)

Are you trying to play a scenario that you dont have the map for?

is the error message indicating that you are missing a map?

Have you installed the GW mappack?

A missing map is usually what triggers the CD required error message.

oweerts -> RE: Loading maps (1/1/2011 6:33:04 AM)

Hi Andrew,

What I have been doing is saving the mapfiles into a subfolder of my downloads folder. Unzipping them into that folder and then copying and pasting the unzipped files into the Maps folder of CC III. This was on advice as I was having trouble unzipping the map files before. Looking at ModSwap, the GW Mappack is not listed as installed - I was not aware that mappacks and files had to be installed, per se, like the mods.
I hope this explains what I am doing and need to be doing.

cheers,
Olaf

oweerts -> RE: Loading maps (1/2/2011 10:17:37 AM)

Actually Andrew, i must not have the maps properly installed as it asks me for theLVOV4 map. So what might work in installing the maps?

Olaf

Dennistoun -> RE: Loading maps (1/2/2011 7:09:45 PM)

Have you checked your map folder to see if you definitely don't have Lvov4 there?

oweerts -> RE: Loading maps (1/3/2011 10:20:11 AM)

Yes I have and it is there in LOS, MMM, OVM and RFM forms.

oweerts -> RE: Loading maps (1/6/2011 10:34:55 PM)

Hi All,

Still can't get that GW mod to work. It would appear that it doesn't recognise the map needed, so i must be installing them incorrectly. Would someone please tell my exactly how they install their mappacks? I followed Teddy's advice and that overcame a hurdle but maybe I did something else incorrectly.

Cheers,
Olaf

DampSquib -> RE: Loading maps (1/7/2011 2:07:48 AM)

Teddy's advice has been spot on.
So dont know that this will help.

DL both plugins for the Great War..(1 is a operations plugin.)
DL the map pack for GW.
Unzip both Plugins into the Plugins folder.
Have a wee look to make sure they are there....they are woohoo!!
Right click the map pack zip...pick extract all...click next.
Check that the location is correct...it wasn't!!!
Browse to the correct place..click next....done!!
Fire up Mod Swap from Command Centre install Both GW plugins.

Load up COI....ok mods in...woohoo!!
Clicking on most of the battles i get the CD error.
Same for the operations.

Only play the operations starting with GW!!!!
And all the Historical Campaigns work.

oweerts -> RE: Loading maps (1/9/2011 8:51:16 AM)

Hi All,

Well, thank goodness, I've go it to work. I thought I was going mad but it would seem that you can only play a the two or so campaigns and make up your own scenarios. Thank you all to Andrew, Teddy and DampSquip.

Cheers
Olaf
