Well...I've tried every setting on the "Hardware Acceleration" slider for Sound in DXDIAG. Even in "emulated" mode, the same thing occurs. I've deleted the Game.ini file in between each test. Even emulated, the Game.ini file has "3DSoundSupported=1". I would have thought it would say 0 in this case. FYI, I've tried setting it to 0, then running the game, but the game crashes whenever I select a soldier so I guess that does not work ;) Here's some sound device info from the Game.ini file in case it helps you. Does it matter that "SoundDriverAvailable=0"?
MinSoundBufferSize=50
NumberOfAvailableDisplayModes=36
NumberOfAvailableSoundDrivers=2
PSVersion=3.00000000
PixelShadersSupported=1
PreferredSoundDevice=-1
Reflection=1
Scanned=1
SoundDevice0Description=SB Live! 24-bit
SoundDevice0Device=1
SoundDevice0Filename=P17.sys
SoundDriverAvailable=0
SoundLatency=11
Thanks
