I know WitE isn't War in Russia, but does anyone know why the Western and North Africa/Italy Fronts were not in WitE? I really enjoyed the extra flexibility in shifting divisions that is in WiR.

Because the focus of this game is the Russian/Eastern war.

Also, they are making two more games based on those fronts and are planning on tying all 3 games together.

I wouldn't expect a link - or anything else for a year or so (if not longer).

It is my understanding that the two other fronts were not included (like in WiR) because of the tendency for players to rotate units like the Axis minor allies into those fronts to satisfy the garrison requirements (unhistorical) and pulling out all of the German units for the Eastern Front.

Well I think they pretty much solved it in the case of the Finnish with no go areas. Maybe a similar approach to the Romanians and Hungarians (possibly Bulgarians, Croatians and Vichy if ever included) could work. This in essence has already been implemented already with the minor axis line that prohibits them from going into central Russia (let alone France!)

The Italians are a bit of a problem in the sense that they had ample resources and were not really tied down to any one front except the Mediterranean, which could easily be garrisoned with half the Italian army. Also the Italians have a decent indipendent war production of aircraft and afv that could help. Tieing them down though would be too much especially since they provided substantial forces on peripheral fronts/garrison duty and hardware for several Axis minor allies.

It will work as long as we don't have American armoured divisions operating in the Ukraine or Red Army infantry shoring up el Alamein! [:D]
