I not sure if this is a bug or not but I don't believe the Ancient Guardian should be triggering ruins. Given that it starts next to you and has a huge tech advantage it is able to explore much quicker then I am and is triggering all of the ruins before me.

This is especially bad on the smaller maps.

I agree entirely. The Ancient Guardians should have been around to see the ruins constructed - so why are they investigating them?

The Ancient Guardians also set up research bases - yet they have maxed out tech at the start.

Fair points here. If you think of it, ancient guardians should not have: 1) exploration ships 2) Bases other than the bases on their homeworld. Transports should be okay. I'm not sure about mining stations. Even machines need raw materials though.

They also wipe out the local pirates/monsters near me.

Saw an Ancient colony ship yesterday too,   why???

That's because Ancients are all over the place and claim many derelict vessels and ruins you or some other empire are meant to find. Has happened to me too.
