osiris_slith -> SPWAW and Windows 7 (1/7/2011 8:41:36 AM)

Hi All

Need some help

I have installed windows 7 and WinSPMBT, Win SPWW2 and TOAOW all work fine..no glitches much to my surprise. However SPWAW has some real goofy colours..I dont understand why TOAOW can work on Win7 and SPWAW cannot.

There is a solution for a windowed mode (see link below) but I cannot get the bloody file to open because it has .RAR extension and I dont know what to download to make it work-

http://www.matrixgames.com/forums/tm.asp?m=2162408

The guaranteed fix doesnt work at all and Im betting on the windowed mode because both WinSPMBT and WW2 have a windowed mode option built in. I think it would be very nice if Matrix made a patch for SPWAW for a windowed mode version.

Can anyone help out

thanks

rene

The funky colors is most likely a compatibility problem with the graphics card. Had the same issues with my desktop and laptop because both used ATI graphics cards. I think there is a topic here somewhere in these forums that cover this problem.
I was lucky enough to get hold of an old desktop that SPWAW runs fine on. I call it my panzer computer because that's its only purpose is to run the game, although it mostly just collects dust now. Every once in a while I'll play SPWAW a little, but it doesn't take long before I'm fed up with the poor graphics and other short comings with the game. I somehow keep hoping someone will come out with something like this that will take advantage of the computing power of modern computers. So far over here all I've heard is a bunch of bla bla blaaa about how nothing can be done with this game. When I first found it I had high hopes of it being like a computerized version of Advanced Squad Leader.

The .rar file is a compressed file and you need something like WinZip to decompress it.

try this

www.7-zip.org

it will unpack .rar files

This program is where the .rar filetype came from.
I use it and like it for both .rar and .zip files.
