That's interesting. One could argue that your people getting mad a you makes sense - that is, they're naturally upset that you're killing members of your own species.

But having the option to get good relations with that empire and then ask it to join would be good.

I would like to send a fruit basket to independent worlds, with a note reading: "Please join me, here is a small fraction of my wealth. Think about it."

+1 on the loros basket idea [:)]

I notice that Ancient Guardian grab almost all rare stuff in my game "Tavior Bad Income Dhayut.zip" file submitted to ftp server. Even if they already had it back at their worlds. It would be little nicer if they grab less resource and only strategic resources. It is annoying that they can build outpost everywhere with super fast scout + less fuel usage. So a war is not an option because they can strike anywhere. So I am forced to resort to race grabbing *Ice, volcanic, ocean etc...* to colonize and force removal of the outpost. But otherwise nice patch as noticed by everyone else.

P.S. Should I list the above somewhere else or something?

I've always figured they were grabbing all the good stuff so that one empire couldn't get too far ahead, or something like that. If it makes you feel better, you can mentally sub in "Passive Aggressive Space Assholes" instead of "Ancient Guardians", prolly more accurate.

You can get away with blowing up one of their extractors without starting an all-out war. They might get pissed and send a small raiding party against you, though.

Probably general discussion, yeah.

Yes good idea. Should also add a PS "We will glass you're planet if you don't. Have a wonderful day."

I know.. I mean, its kinda logical too.
Even irl =D

Imagine if suddenly a vast galactic civilization spanning hundreds of colonies revealed themselves to us, not to mention that they also were friggin human!
Now, what do you think Earth as a whole would do when faced with 2 choises?
1. Die, get invaded.
2. Join this incredibly large powerful empire OF OUR OWN KIND, and reap the benefits in near-immortality, end of famine and disease, and being able to see the universe via their space tourism as being part of their empire.

Honestly, no independent world would reasonably say no :P
Its understandable when it comes to alien races like nasty insects or whatever, but there should really be a diplomatic "join us?" option for the same race, without having to send a colony ship.

Then, they reveal themselves to actually be lizards hiding under human skin, and we either all die in the days that follow or slowly by slavery. [:'(]

Consider it as your empire sending them bits of your advanced technology, administrative staff, things like that, then.

The problem is not exactly that they get mad exactly. The problem is that they get wildly pissed off about instantly to the tune of something like -20 per planet. I could understand this kind of negative from one of their planets, but from one of mine? I think the negative is moderately appropriate for planets of a former empire or even secondary populations, but for those of your own species, there should be some special circumstances. In my case, I was fighting a one planet empire with a direct declaration of war. Had I simply attacked them without war, my empire would have been much better off. Now, consider the case where your empire splits into a civil war. This doesn't happen often for the player, but in this civil war case, the remainder of an empire's planet would become instantly worse simply because some planets got upset and went to war. Honestly, in a case where two super large states of the same race go to war, the one with better happiness rating would have a distinct advantage since this penalty would harm their opponent more than themselves.

And a friendly battallion of a million invincible alien-soldiers to keep the order =D

Simulation01 -> RE: New Return of the Shakturi v1.5.0.2 Public Beta (1/16/2011 11:07:52 AM)

I haven't tried to do this yet, so that is why I'm posting, but has the problem with adding more than the normal race images or races to the races.txt file been fixed in the 1.0.5.1 update?

Carewolf -> RE: New Return of the Shakturi v1.5.0.2 Public Beta (1/16/2011 3:38:22 PM)

Has the exploit for remotely scanning for habitable planets using colony ships been fixed yet?

If not, here is how it works.
Select colony ship on manual. Right click on unexplored star, if you get the option to colonize a planet there, then that star has a colonizable planet, if you don't get the option, then the unexplored star does not have inhabitable planets.

Data -> RE: New Return of the Shakturi v1.5.0.2 Public Beta (1/16/2011 5:36:56 PM)

interesting one altough not sure how important could it be given the huge number of colonizable planets in this awesome game
maybe more relevant on smaller maps.....anyway, still a bug and an exploit

kenata -> RE: New Return of the Shakturi v1.5.0.2 Public Beta (1/16/2011 7:50:41 PM)

I honestly would like to see a slider for resource cost of components. I always find myself with thousands of most resources, and I can't do anything with that much. It would be more interesting if I could turn up a multiplier for these costs so that it was more of a struggle.

Data -> RE: New Return of the Shakturi v1.5.0.2 Public Beta (1/16/2011 9:43:11 PM)

that is also a good idea

tornnight -> RE: New Return of the Shakturi v1.5.0.2 Public Beta (1/16/2011 10:06:37 PM)

Thats not true if you turn down the number of colonizable planets. They get to be fairly rare.

kenata -> RE: New Return of the Shakturi v1.5.0.2 Public Beta (1/17/2011 2:24:59 AM)

Even with a decrease in colonizable planets, most resources can be so easily mined across the galaxy on even the most inhospitable worlds. By the time you get to have 30+ colonies, you will have such a massive stockpile of resources that your empire can easily create hundreds of ships at a time. In a recent game, I was capable of creating 300 escorts with 80 fire power in about 3 months without even denting my resource reserves.

BigWolfChris -> RE: New Return of the Shakturi v1.5.0.2 Public Beta (1/17/2011 11:31:09 AM)

Resources have always been plentiful
The exception tends to be Caslon since, in the beginning, everything uses it
And you can usually offset this by changing reactor types for your military once you're tech is high enough

Hetulik -> RE: New Return of the Shakturi v1.5.0.2 Public Beta (1/26/2011 2:57:08 AM)

What is the estimate for when the next beta patch comes out? Any hints on what new features it might contain?

Data -> RE: New Return of the Shakturi v1.5.0.2 Public Beta (1/26/2011 7:03:18 AM)

check the tech support section for the latest threads where Elliot responded, that should give us an idea about what will be fixed next...no idea about new features though, we'll just have to wait and see what Santa brings this time
