m10bob -> (9/7/2002 8:03:44 PM)

I first heard of Matrix Games when I found a free cd in a magazine with the complete "original" version of SPWAW...(I had been playing SP for 2 years and thought the game was dead with everybody (but me)..:)

Ron Saueracker -> How I found Matrix/2by3 (9/7/2002 8:24:00 PM)

Searched online using Mamma.com (the mother of all search engines) for Gary Grigsby et voila......:D

XPav -> (9/8/2002 4:40:02 AM)

Heard about UV on comp.sys.ibm.pc.games.war-historical, read the AARs, then bought UV off some guy who was selling :eek: :confused: his.

Huskalator -> (9/8/2002 5:53:25 AM)

Gone Gold announced that Uncommon Valor had gone gold and I was curious to find out what the game was all about. The rest is history.

Kid and Crock's AAR greatly influenced my decision to buy.

jive1 -> (9/8/2002 4:47:44 PM)

I found out about Matrix after the Talonsoft site was deserted.
I always follow the new game news as I play most wargames so
found out about it here.

wzh55 -> (9/9/2002 10:26:26 AM)

Found Matrix when looking for PacWar and SP variants. Used to know David Laundry when he was with NovaStar and have been hooked on computer wargames ever since. Matrix was what I was looking for. No one supports his games like Gary Grigsby. By the way, in SP, some of the smaller commanders were often name Sgt. Grisgy, etc. I suppose this was intentional???

Thanks a million. Looking forward to WitP eagerly. A rough idea of release??????????? Please??

Drongo -> (9/9/2002 1:02:13 PM)

I was looking for South Pacific porn sites and accidently stumbled across.......(oops).

(Ahem) I was looking for new CMBO scenarios and visited Warfare HQ where I came across the announcement of UV's release. Since Pacific warfare games are one of my favourites, I followed the clues back to Matrix, saw the write up and bought the game.

von Murrin -> Okay okay, I know you're all wondering... (9/9/2002 3:41:59 PM)

I spent a lot of time in late 2000 bouncing around looking for information on Pacific theater games because there wasn't one I had liked since PacWar. I stumbled across the website, and had been lurking until I knew UV was a few months off. :)

soeren -> (9/9/2002 6:02:07 PM)

I found matrix while searching for patches for pacwar and revisiting regular since then

Bulldog61 -> (9/9/2002 6:55:24 PM)

I played GG's PacWar since it came out. I'm probably one of the strange people that liked BTR. read that Grigsby and signed a contract to redo PacWar and that Matrix was doing an iterim upgrade.

You know I have to find another game to dislike so I can go back to trolling...the bright light of the surface hurts my eyes ;-)

Wolfar100 -> (9/10/2002 6:03:49 AM)

Been into Gary's games for what seems like EON's now. Used to play them on a Atari 800 while allot of my friends use C64's. I followed the Steel Panthers movement and just watched as UV came to frutation.

shark -> Pac War fan (9/10/2002 8:03:25 AM)

We played pac war dos for years.
when matrix improved it we started playing the matrix version.
we kept watching the website and soon were waiting for the matrix rewrite of pacwar, naturally we were still playing pacwar the matrix project, --still the best strategic computergame around for email play--.WE ONLY PLAY EMAIL as it is the best simulation of strategic play and the most convient.
When the pre-ordered UV arrived (-from Vortigen, in Aussie,)we finally stoped playing PacWar.Havent played it since.
What better praise could i give to UV!!!!!!

we are now watching for the arrival of War in the Pacific.

eMonticello -> (9/10/2002 10:24:05 AM)

a) I heard about Matrix within a few days after David and gang announced its creation. I've been following their progress ever since. (I think that was two or three years ago)

b) I've purchased all of Gary's games from Steel Panthers (Sept 1996) and beyond (after being disappointed with Across in Rhine in Jan 1996.)

c) Although I am an old AH wargamer from the '70s, I didn't pick up the hobby again until I got online in 1994 and became a devoted fan of the Tankers website (RIP).

Ref -> (9/10/2002 9:47:25 PM)

Was searching for computer wargames (Google) and found a review on Wargamers.com.

Bax -> (9/11/2002 12:09:26 AM)

I also discovered UV while browsing the Wargamer site. I was a huge fan of Gary Grigsby's "Pacific War". Spent many months playing that every night when I was single on my old 386 SX-16mhz system.

Now I'm married, with one child and hardly any freetime. I am so glad to have found UV. It has rekindled my interest in wargaming.

God Bless all the developers at Matrix! I appreciate everything you've done for the wargaming community, and I look forward to future titles.

brisd -> Gary fan (9/11/2002 5:12:44 AM)

I have played Gary Grigsby's pc wargames since day one and had been playing PacWar again. I was surfing the net looking for more PacWar fan sites when I heard of Matrix and their redo of the game. I have been a Matrix fan ever since :)

ltfightr -> Matrix (9/11/2002 5:13:30 AM)

I found matrix thru the pacwar forum

rich91a -> One good thing leads to another (9/11/2002 9:06:50 PM)

I was in to Combat Mission and on the CM forums a couple of posters mentioned they'd picked up UV and it was very good.

Thinking that if other CMers are praising UV it would be worth a look, I checked out the Matrix website.

Thankfully the Matrix site has links to retail outlets in the UK which have copies of UV on the shelves.

Found one not too far from central London (Richmond), dropped in and picked up a copy.

So put me down as word of mouth, or more accurately word of forum.

Fabulous game!

Grouchy -> (9/11/2002 10:23:53 PM)

Think I found out about Matrix Games in the newsgroup comp.sys.ibm.pc.games.war-historical and/or at the Wargamer a few days after Matrix games started. Bookmarked the site and since then I checking it out almost daily.

BPRE -> (9/12/2002 12:35:03 AM)

I've played Pac War since the beginning and heard about Matrix and the possible successor through the Pacwar mailing list.
Eagerly waiting for Uncommon Valor and buying it as soon as it was released.

FirstPappy -> (9/12/2002 8:29:04 AM)

Found Matrix long time ago after search for PACwar updates. Bought UV right after it was released.

Oliver Heindorf -> attn. David Heath !! (9/14/2002 1:09:56 AM)

How I found Matrix !

OK

long story !! ;)

I know Wild Bill Wilder since 1997, and at this point, I was playing SSI SPII & SPI. We met at the wargamer forum, he was one of the guys who posted there a lot of texts etc.

I contaced him and we had a few battles :) with SpI & SpII. He is the only man in the world who knows why they call me 'hammer' :) hehe lesson learned by him :)

some das later, he and some other guys moved to a new site found by a company which name I had forgotton.

Bill founded his famous raider group and I was a part of it. the site closed in 1999 and he moved to matrix.

so I know you guys since your start up :)
and this only from one man : Wild Bill Wilder :)

VI66_slith -> (9/15/2002 5:17:01 AM)

I believe File Planet...searching for the old AH 3R PC patch...where I saw a patch for UV...as is customary I began to sniff around...stumbled my way to matrix site...ordered game today...my life surely will never be the same...a dream realized by shear luck:D :p :D

angus -> (9/20/2002 11:21:57 AM)

I was planning on buying yet another copy of Carriers at War (lost a disk when moving then had to reinstall PC ...). I had 2 games I played all the time on Apple II 20 years ago, CAW and Guadalcanal Campaign. I was just going to google for CAW and then I thought, "I wonder if GC has ever been ported" so I tried "gary grigsby" and "guadalcanal campaign" and here we are. Best idea I've had in ages (but I still need to get a copy of CAW).

DoomedMantis -> (9/20/2002 12:08:24 PM)

Heard about Matrix through looking for turn based strategy games, went through a bit of waffle and then found Matrix in August 2002. Have been here ever since and am hooked by UV. Played SPWAW for a while (including one of the mega campaigns), but prefer things a little bit more stategic.

Have been most impressd about the support that matrix gives its games. When a suggestion is made, it is usually acted upon fairly quickly.

I haven't bought this product, but this seems to be the definitive CAW. Check into www.ssgus.com. They are selling a CAW I, II, and scenario designer on CD-ROM that purportedly plays on Windows 95/98/XP. Your guess is as good as mine...

LargeSlowTarget -> (9/26/2002 10:22:59 PM)

Being a student in history with a foible for WWII and a self-appointed 'GG PacWar'-veteran, I periodically browse the net for infos and references on the Pacific War, and bingo, one day in 2000 I stumbled over the Matrix web site announcing a remake of PacWar. There has hardly been a week ever since I haven't visited this web site, and so I learned about UV. Buying it was the logical thing.

jlederer -> Where I found UV (11/14/2002 10:15:07 AM)

I was reading posts in comp.sys.ibm.pc.games.naval and saw post about UV 2.0 patch

Baskaatje -> (11/14/2002 10:30:03 PM)

I am always looking for strategical wargames as they are the most "thinking" wargames there are. You need to plan ahead, use all variables and can pursue several courses of action to get to your goals.

Found UV through the Wargamer a year or so ago (a preview or interview I guess) and from then followed the development through the Matrix siet.
