chiphart -> Victory Hex Problems During Scen Creation? (9/6/2002 9:21:15 PM)

I'm in the midst of designing a scen and I'm having trouble with getting my Victory Hexes to stick!

That is, I place my hexes in the normal fashion, I see them on the screen...but when I open the scen to play, only *one* of them is left (the first one I placed).

I've tried everything I can think of - placing them one-at-a-time, checking for "hidden" victory hexes, moving them around, you name it. Nothing seems to work.

Any ideas? Obvious, obscure, I don't care.

Thanks.

[Meanwhile, I haven't visited here in weeks - GREAT makeover!]

Hello

Have you read Wild Bill's scenario design guides from the 'hall of fame' forum? Those might be helpful.

Naturally, but not in a long time...of course, with the new forums, I can't seem to find them (are they up?).

They are up, they are in the 'SPWAW hall of fame ' subforum. Just put the message count setting to 'from the beginning' and look from page 2.

My guess is that most of your Victory Hexes are of the type "appearing at turn xxx or when discovered"

I wish I were that stupid (close, I'm sure!). That was the first thing I checked...no luck.

Double-check the value of your v-hexes.

Failing that, go back and redefine them all and save.

Unless I'm missing something, I've tried that numerous times.

Perhaps someone brave would be willing to receive this scen and see if you can add the hexes for me :-) Plus, you can alpha test it for me...it's fun, at least (says me, of course).

Thanks for the help, so far, though.

You can email it to me (zipped, I hope) at
artifice@fireserve.net and I'll take a look. Probably will not have time to alpha test it however.

It should not be too difficult to fix the v-hexes.

FWIW, I finally got this working...I don't know what was wrong, exactly, but I got it to work by going in and saving the victory hexes one-at-a-time.

Interestingly, I could SEE victory hexes (well, flags) where I wanted them, they just weren't "saved." Weird.

Thanks for the help.
