jalapen0 -> 1.05.2 invasion bug (1/18/2011 7:27:54 PM)

I have not tried to duplicate this. This is what I did:

1. Invaded enemy planet
2. Won the battle, had 3 troops left.
3. Planet went into rebellion 3 to 5 days later. (which shouldn't happen by the way imo)
4. Rebels won with 1 troop left.
5. Planet switched to enemy empire again.
6. I invaded again immediately with 17 troops.
7. Planet went independent and TOOK MY TROOPS WITH IT.
8. Planet is now independent with 18 troops.

never encountered it but i think it may be wad
from all the figthing they problably got upset with their government and as soon as they liberated themselves from you decided to leave the other empire also and become independent
bad timing that you had also troops on the ground at that time but it certainly sounds ok by design imho
the only thing i'd find not ok is to have a colony change status during combat, at the very least it should not assimilate your troops also

This is the biggest issue with it and should not have happened. Definately not WAD.

agreed, let's hope it gets into the second next patch, i think we'll have one quite soon

Spacecadet -> RE: 1.05.2 invasion bug (1/18/2011 11:30:37 PM)

Actually, one of the tweaks was for Planets to be more likely to rebel during/after invasion.

during invasion? and get to the invadors side? or go independent? if the latter, we still have the problem with our troops on the ground

jalapen0 -> RE: 1.05.2 invasion bug (1/19/2011 4:30:18 PM)

I should also note that all this happened literally in like 2 minutes. Of course I had X4 time on though. I still think it's way to fast.

maybe an option to retreat our troops from combat when we want to would help with this also, just as a workaround
but generally speaking i think it would be nice to have this option as well

I've seen this myself at times. That is why I remove most of my troops that
attacked and conquered the planet very soon after invasion (if at least one
or more of my transports survived the assault). In addition, the troops
that attacked the planet will have increased their strength and I can heal/store
them for the next planet invasion mission. I'm sure Elliot is looking into
all these invasion factors for some semblance of balance though. [:)]

BigWolfChris -> RE: 1.05.2 invasion bug (1/20/2011 1:48:39 PM)

Personally, I think planets are too quick to rebel
Also, (And I'm sure this is already a factor) shouldn't troops on the ground prevent rebellions?
Or at least lower the chances...  And with this in mind, my carriers shouldn't be picking up troops mid-rebellion, effectively giving the planet away [:-]

Of course, I am experiencing an interesting exploit in one of my games
Me and Ally goto war with enemy, after some time of my fleets decimating his and taking over 2 colonies (back and forth with them rebelling and me taking them back over), I get him to subjugate to me
Now being I can't ask my ally to declare peace (feature request please :) lol) he continues to fight this weakened enemy, taking over his worlds... the interesting thing, these worlds will then rebel and join me????
About 15 new colonies and I didn't have to do a thing lol

Data -> RE: 1.05.2 invasion bug (1/20/2011 3:27:28 PM)

could we fix this exploit last please? [:D]

elliotg -> RE: 1.05.2 invasion bug (1/24/2011 4:00:55 AM)

The next update fixes this so that colony rebellions do not begin during invasions. I've also changed things so that the colony will join an invading empire (if present) instead of becoming independent or joining another empire.

Note that your troops at a colony already act to prevent rebellions from starting, so you should normally leave them as a garrison for newly conquered planets, especially at large colonies.
