Rotherman -> 1941 (1/24/2011 1:39:04 PM)

I started the 41-45 campaign, and I am now on week 2 of September. To start with I had a massive encirclement to the west of Minsk, but a surprising number of enemy units escaped. The same happened down south near Rovno. I have now decided to make the Dnepr my winter front line. 2nd Army, and parts of 9th Army are already digging in along the river. Hoth and Guderian are busy smashing Soviet units in the land bridge near Smolensk, and the when the weather changes I will put them in Refit. AGS is struggling to reach the Dnepr, but the arrival of 40 Panzer Corps should make things easier.
This means I will be in a strong position to resist Soviet counter attacks, and it means I will be able to start next years offensive early, May instead of late June.

Are you playing random weather? With Non-Random weather there is mud all through May1942.

But from the Dnieper and not from the Kursk, Belgorod, Kharkov region...

Perhaps you are too far away from possible valuable objectives for 1942. Maybe it is time to consider a defensive option, it seems as if the Red Army will be in a good shape, and you can bleed yourself if you attack. What are the casualities so far?.

Be advised that with random weather you can and will get hit with mud early in your advance. I got clobbered turn 3 from Leningrad all the way to just south of Kiev. So beware, it is challenging, but has it's draw backs too.
