CavLancer -> Hi! I would like to buy 4 games (1/25/2011 10:44:16 PM)

I'm having some trouble. I won't use a credit card online and am out of the US at the moment. I wish the games shipped to my home in the US though. So I called the order # 952 646 5257 and spoke to Marvin. It took a long time yesterday before he said he could not find the first game, The Operational Art of War III, and the second game,World War One Gold, and I should call back another time the website was down. So I called back today and asked if I could order again, but no luck. Let me just add that I'm using a cell phone with $25 worth of load I bought specifically for this purpose, about half remains. That's okay, I don't mind, but I would like to order your products. I can't find a Matrix email and the support page has no way to contact Matrix in private so I've resorted to putting the problem here in the forum.

The games are...

The Operational Art of War III
World War One Gold
War in the East
Empires in Arms

Please instruct me what I should do.

Thank you for producing these games. After years of being away from wargaming I was amazed and excited to find that these were once again being produced.

Please don't close this thread until I have another way to contact someone online.

I have a Mastercard credit card in hand. Help!

I should add that if I could Email Marvin and work through it with him at his pace that would be okay.

Btw when I described my cell phone load situation with him he asked that I call Matrix direct and gave me the very same # I had used to get in contact with him... 952 646 5257.

CavLancer -> RE: Hi! I would like to buy 4 games (1/25/2011 10:54:08 PM)

If you wish to contact me privately I post regularly at WePlayCiv, my name there is Lancer. Just send a PM.

I've started a discussion there in 'Other Games' that likely has gotten Matrix some orders already, though I don't know how they managed it.

parusski -> RE: Hi! I would like to buy 4 games (1/25/2011 10:58:10 PM)

OK. So was Marvin looking in the West Coast or East Coast warehouse? Did he say? What country are you in?

CavLancer -> RE: Hi! I would like to buy 4 games (1/25/2011 11:10:15 PM)

I'm in the Philippines but I don't trust the mail here so I have stuff delivered to my place in the US and shipped via a shipper, LBC, from there.

I don't know what Marvin was doing, sorry.

Are you employed by Matrix sir?

parusski -> RE: Hi! I would like to buy 4 games (1/25/2011 11:17:28 PM)

[8|]

So what is your proposal? Do you want someone here to call your cell phone number(limited minutes of course)? Or do you want someone to order for you using their own credit card? OR are you going to give your credit card number to the person who calls you??

CavLancer -> RE: Hi! I would like to buy 4 games (1/25/2011 11:26:31 PM)

I would like to order some games using my credit card.

I could call back Marvin if someone would instruct him how to order games. He does answer the order line after all.

I'm quite serious, not trying to do anything wrong, break any rules, disrespect anyone, I just want to order the games mentioned and pay for them myself.

I know there's a lot of stuff that goes on at these sites, no new person can really be trusted. So, if there's any doubt just contact me at WePlayCiv where I'm a long time member in good standing, even regularly contribute to support the site. Name there is 'Lancer' It was taken here.

Or contact one of the site owners there, Dale, and ask him about me. He's listed there as an administrator.

Terl -> RE: Hi! I would like to buy 4 games (1/25/2011 11:38:11 PM)

So, you are willing to give your credit card number to a man named Marvin over the phone but unwilling to order via the internet and give the same credit card number over a secure connection? Sorry, I just do not understand why. If you don't want to use your own credit card get a prepaid card for the total and order on line. Much easier than the cell phone to Marvin in my opinion.

CavLancer -> RE: Hi! I would like to buy 4 games (1/25/2011 11:39:04 PM)

Here is the discussion in the 'Other Games' forum where we are talking about Matrix games. One of the guys has bought War in the East since I mentioned Matrix in the discussion, another is planning on it.

CavLancer -> RE: Hi! I would like to buy 4 games (1/25/2011 11:40:45 PM)

Yes I can see there's a problem with my plan here Terl, it wasn't very well thought out. I would like to call the order line and order the games. Perhaps someone at Matrix could have a chat with Marvin about ordering?

Just reread your post, yes I feel more confident calling the Matrix line and giving my # to Marvin.

2ndACR -> RE: Hi! I would like to buy 4 games (1/26/2011 12:24:06 AM)

Just go to the store and enter you CC# info there. You can have the game shipped where ever you want. You can also download the games right away and have the actual game shipped to what ever address you want.

That is what we all do. It is secure and usually very painless

CavLancer -> RE: Hi! I would like to buy 4 games (1/26/2011 12:30:55 AM)

Eh, I want to use the order line, thanks though 2ACR.

Were you at 73 Easting?

2ndACR -> RE: Hi! I would like to buy 4 games (1/26/2011 12:32:59 AM)

Yes, long time ago. Okay, since you were new, thought I would make sure you knew it was safe to do it that way.

2/2 Cav all the way

P.S. Check your inbox, upper right corner.

CavLancer -> RE: Hi! I would like to buy 4 games (1/26/2011 12:35:35 AM)

Yup, I was in Bamberg and Hof, 2/2.

Sadly my memories of the time have gone with my long term memory, health related. I do recall it wasn't all good, gang troubles... Just after Vietnam in '75.

Got your PM, thanks. Clicked 'reply' and it wouldn't let me type anything, sorry. Not much luck here on Matrix forums.

Always Ready!

2ndACR -> RE: Hi! I would like to buy 4 games (1/26/2011 12:36:24 AM)

What troop?

CavLancer -> RE: Hi! I would like to buy 4 games (1/26/2011 12:40:31 AM)

I would have to look at my old mail, its all at my house in Oregon. Listen, I'm new here so I know what I say won't be taken at face value, don't worry about it.

Trying to recall the name of the barracks...

Know I got thrown out of a disco called the Butterfly for hitting on the DJ's gf, that I can recall. :D

2ndACR -> RE: Hi! I would like to buy 4 games (1/26/2011 12:45:08 AM)

LOL

I was a Green Goose type. I can't remember the name either. Nah, not worried about it and not doubting you. I can't remember the Squadron Commander either, but we called him "Rat 6"

CavLancer -> RE: Hi! I would like to buy 4 games (1/26/2011 12:47:52 AM)

So you were in Bamberg and Hof? I think the 2 ACR is/was down in Polk recently, God help em.

2ndACR -> RE: Hi! I would like to buy 4 games (1/26/2011 12:50:19 AM)

They are back in Germany now.......They are a Stryker Brigade. They were at Polk.

Yep. Bamberg........our border camp was Coburg.

I remember a bunch of fights versus 6/6 Infantry and some with 7/6 Infantry

CavLancer -> RE: Hi! I would like to buy 4 games (1/26/2011 12:54:35 AM)

Huh, that must have changed. In '75 the border camp was Hof. The girls there all had a bf in every troop that rotated through. I thnk the DJ's gf wanted in on some of that action...;)

The fights back then were within the troop, race gang stuff.

2ndACR -> RE: Hi! I would like to buy 4 games (1/26/2011 12:59:19 AM)

Nope, not in my day. We did Coburg. And the female situation was the same there. LOL

We never fought (well not the same anyway) within the Squadron. I can remember a bunch of unit on unit fights on a Friday/Saturday night. If not at the Goose then the following day down in the LTA. Huge throw down brawls.

We used to run right thru their barracks on Squadron runs just to piss them off.

CavLancer -> RE: Hi! I would like to buy 4 games (1/26/2011 1:03:17 AM)

Well its a pleasure 2ACR. I'll follow your advice and try to PM one of the Matrix guys, and thanks. :)

2ndACR -> RE: Hi! I would like to buy 4 games (1/26/2011 1:04:40 AM)

No problem. The store is nice just so you know. Any problems, pm me.

Oh, and Alex is online right now at the top of this forum

CavLancer -> RE: Hi! I would like to buy 4 games (1/26/2011 1:14:20 AM)

Good to have a friend. :b:

Sent Alex an email linking this thread, hope he comes through. I am really looking forward to playing some of these games!

What's your favorite game 2ACR?

Is there anything WWIIIish that has the 2/2 Cav in it?

junk2drive -> RE: Hi! I would like to buy 4 games (1/26/2011 1:31:54 AM)

I don't know about your situation but there are some problems with CCs from some countries. It may not be possible to order from the Philippines and ship to USA. Even if it is a USA credit card. Maybe if the ship to and billing address are the same you have a chance.

CavLancer -> RE: Hi! I would like to buy 4 games (1/26/2011 1:37:00 AM)

Its a credit card, they take the payment directly out of my checking. In other words, no billing address.

2ndACR -> RE: Hi! I would like to buy 4 games (1/26/2011 2:09:44 AM)

I am a War in the East and War in the Pacific (original and AE) grognard.

If it has Gary Grigsby in the title, it is a sure bet I will buy it. Distant Worlds is a great space empire game, Forge of Freedom is a great Civil War game.

But, War in the East is my current love. Plus they have plans on a War in the West and then trying to link both. The monster of all games

Going by your list above, War in the East. It will suck you in and never let you go. The AI is extremely good (as an AI). I don't have any of the others so can not comment.

CavLancer -> RE: Hi! I would like to buy 4 games (1/26/2011 4:28:39 AM)

Well I'm looking forward to playing anything I can.

So you like War in the Pacific. I saw it hadn't been updated in a while and that put me off. Also I was a bit concerned that an AI could ever handle a naval battle on that scale. Tell me its excellent and I'll add it to my list.

My problem with having a human opponent is people dropping out after a long time has been invested. Must be even worse with games on this scale where y e a r s can be invested. Having someone drop out then would be disconcerting.

Don't know if I'll ever own the games the way things are going though. I saw the thread by ER though and understand what it is to lose someone close like that. I'll message him in a couple weeks, give the man some time.

2ndACR -> RE: Hi! I would like to buy 4 games (1/26/2011 4:38:28 AM)

Erik will be back probably Monday. David is the big, big dog here.

The AI in WITP-AE is pretty good. Any Mac is an evil genius with the AI scripts. One thing you will find around here, all current games are supported and you even see and hear from the Devs and all the Alpha/Beta teams. Plus we players (grouchy that we are) are about the most helpful you will find. Some are just grouchy. LOL

But WITP DOES take years for a PBEM.

I have 2 PBEM of War in the East and they move pretty quick. Only 255 turn game, chump change after WITP and the 1000+ turns. LOL

I would go with WITE if I was you. Great AI, plays quick even in PBEM or on the Slitherine server (I recommend it). Not as big a learning curve. WITP is a great big cliff. AE is even bigger cliff.

Try the store, all it can do is kick you out and say no. I have not bought any game except a Matrix title since 2003. I have 15 titles or more all bought thru the online store here.

CavLancer -> RE: Hi! I would like to buy 4 games (1/26/2011 5:23:19 AM)

I doubt it would say no, its just that I'm very careful. Since there is a way provided by Matrix to order by phone I somehow get the perhaps unreasonable expectation that I can order by phone. ;)

2ACR, what is AE?
