Larsenex -> Please help me locate where saved games are? (2/2/2011 3:05:42 AM)

I have the game installed on my 'D' drive Matrix Games. I cannot find a saved game folder anywhere. What am I missing?

dazoline II -> RE: Please help me locate where saved games are? (2/2/2011 3:34:23 AM)

Mine is here:
C:\Documents and Settings\<username>\Application Data\Code Force Limited\Distant Worlds\1.5.0.4\SavedGames

I don't know why they keep it in that folder as its hidden by default windows settings.

D:\Documents and Settings\your_user_here\Application Data\Code Force Limited\Distant Worlds - and in here you have all the patch versions and all the saves

That folder will always be on what drive Windows is on, regardless of where the game is installed..

indeed, you are correct Setekh....I saw Larsenex had the same DW install home as mine and assumed he also has the Windows on D, like me

Oddly enough, I could not find a Documents and settings folder. I tried and tried, damn Win 7. What I did do was tell windows to look for 'Code Force' on the C drive and bam it found it in a folder(?) I cannot see call 'roaming'. Anyway, now I know how to search for it I can now find them. I went into my C drive and made all hidden folders visable. Ill check again later.

Thanks very much for the help!

There you go,  now you can see the hidden files inside the hidden files,  weird,  why is it hidden that far?  but also when you save a game in the game or load,  the window that pops out,  click on the icon that makes you proceed to the parent directory or the folder that is before the one you're in,  then you can right click in the folder and click explore or open,  it will open a new window apart from Distant Worlds and off you go.

You can change the saved game location! When saving a game just navigate to the location you want to use and save there. The game will default to that location for future saves including auto saves! However, when you install a patch, the game settings appear to be reset. You then have to repeat the above to save to your preferred location.

The easy way to find those files is click on "load game," at the top is your file path, follow that trail back to the source. It will be different for everyone because of how your file structure is organized, but it should be the same for everyone when you find: 'appdata\roaming\code force limited\distant worlds\1.0.6.0\saved games\

I wanted to install the game on my laptop and continue a saved game, so I copied the "saved game" files from my desktop to a disk and copied the saved files from the disk to my laptop. I did this because a game on my desktop was pushing the limits of its memory, and my lap top is a 4 gig 64. Worked great!
