Right ot of left field to boot. I have two systems and wish to use a KVM switch but am foiled by a connector problem. The KVM has a female VGA connector and my LG 23" monitor is using an HDMI with my newer system with win 7 Pro 64 bit and the other system is Xp Pro. I don't suppose any of you computer types out ther ever heard of a connector with a male VGA/female HDMI have you? I don't think there is such a thing.
The other posibility is ther may be an HDMI KVM switch out there some where. I do have a DVI-D/HDMI connector I am using on my win 7 system so maybe there is a KVM that would work if it had a DVI-D connector but I think I am dreaming, but it don't hurt to ask.

Most of what you ask for exists.

VGA to HDMI converter - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16812270368 (one example of many, not an endoresement)

DVI KVM - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817182198 (careful here, you'll want to have DVI coming out of the XP machine, no analog VGA since they are DVI-D connectors on the KVM, not for analog VGA).

the 2 7950"s (xp system) and the 29800GTX+'s on the win 7 system all have DVI-D female connectors. So what I have done is use a DVI-D to HDMI connector on the window7 and connect with the monitor with a standard HDMI cable. If I want to use the xp system I have to input the sound (asus external USB sound card) and the video monitor cable from the win 7 system to the xp system. To tell you the truth I have no Idea what I need to buy to get a KVM setup but I do not see how I can do it with the VGA KVM as both systems do not have VGA connectors.
One thought was to get a VGA/HDMI for the VGA KVM and another DVI-D/HDMI like what I have on the win 7 system. However the cables that plug into the two systems on the VGA KVM are VGA and each has a pair f USB male connectors as well. If you want to take the time and email me and describe exactly what I need to buy and what to do keeping in mind that I am not a real computer knowledge guy. If you are busy (which you must be) you do not have to bother but it would be nice to have some sort of idea of what goes where. I could even provide you with a mailing address and you could diagram it all out but I think this is a bit to much to ask a total stranger. If I just knw the connectors I need and cables I could figure it out I think..

Thanks so much for your responce before I started spending money on stuff that will not really work like the VGA KVM.

The attached isn't pretty but hopefully explains better. Holler with any more questions, we can always do pretty but this is probably all I can compose tonight on the topic.
