lexo1014 -> How do i move planes by ship? (2/13/2011 7:45:36 PM)

Ok ive read the newbie guides on the forums and still cant figure out how to move planes by ship.

Let me tell ya what i got.
I was going over my bases between turns and noticed a air transport TF consiting of 7 xAK's, in seattle,,i do not remember making this TF.
Now ive been lucky so far when it comes to midway, and figured i would like to send some planes over there to help out since i have a boatload of em in the usa.
Ive clicked the button,, Transfer to Docked ship but no ship comes up to transfer it too.

Question is,,how do i move planes by ship to a location?

Thanks for any help

Select TF, load troops, select desired units from list - one air unit per ship normally. Won't work id air units are restricted command though.

Mhh, i created a transport Taskforce, docked it and choosed "load troops", then choosed the air unit i wanted to load.
In case the air unit is under restricted command you canot load it until you attached it to a free HQ.

edit:
Lol Roger, you´re too fast for me.
At least my newbie advice seems to be right [:)]

also IIRC you need an "Air transport" task-force. If you choose the regular transport only LCU's will show up on the load list.

Nah, regular transport can carry air groups just fine.

Thats interesting since not two turns ago I ran into this and regular Transport would not show my air units in the list of loadable units. I will try again but,in any case if option 1 doesnt work it leaves an option 2

No Air transport means the planes arrive more or less ready to fly. If normal transport they are crated and have to be rebuilt. Still fine for transport though.

I used both, air and normal transport not long ago. BOTH worked.

Both work, but certain, limited types of ships in an Air Transport TF allow the planes to arrive ready to fly, and not in crates. The game allows you to put ships which don't have this feature, like xAKs, into Air Transport TFs, so you have to check the manual for the capability.

Ship types are CVE and AKV. See manual p. 111.
