Samurai -> Question! (9/13/2002 8:52:49 PM)

I'm complitely new with UV so this is going to be a newbie-like question, but... In the ship reinforcement screen there is ETA for Tokyo/Pearl Harbour! Is every ship listed there later available for combat, or those ships with more than 400/500 days ETA do not appear in the teatre? I just played some of the smaller campaigns so this is mostly concearning the bigest campaign.

Thanx!

In short yes the ship availability is complete for the full scenario. That is the ships you see are the ships you will get.

DoomedMantis

ps that is if Pearl actually gives them to you. Just because they are sitting in Pearl/Tokyo doesn't necessarily mean that you will get them

As far as I can tell every ship is scheduled to arrive in Japan/Pearl Harbor before the end of the longest scenario. Whether the ship will ever actually be committed to the South Pacific is another matter. The later the ship arrives in Japan/PH the less time is available for it to be committed.

So, in short, in reinforcement setings, when on historical, some will arrive. And there is no way you can force Tokyo/Pearl to send them?... Lots of realy nice ships are approx. 400 days ETA Tokyo/Pearl. That means, the greater the number, possibility for their arrival is low... or it does not have to be like that? Like, if a ship is ETA 80 days, he can still remain in Tokyo/Pearl until the end of the complete campaign?

And one other thing...can I somehow attack or do anything at all to the ships comming as reinforcement, or do they just appear in harbor Turk/Noumea(Brisbaine)?

They just appear in Truk/Noumea, so there's nothing you can do to stop them, and yes it is possible for Pearl/Tokyo to hold onto ships till the end, but I find it unlikely. It all depends on random factors and your need for them. For eg, if you start losing a whole lot of AP's, then Pearl might find it in its heart to send you some. If you want to receive ships faster against the AI you can change the ship allocation to say 125% so that you will receive ships quicker. You can also do this in PBEM if your partner agress.
