VMF 214 -> Quick question from a newB (2/27/2011 8:30:46 PM)

I have finally found some time to really get into my first campaign game....have tracker ready and setup (that along took me a good 2 hours). My question is reguarding aircraft data, what are maneuver bands and how do I utilize them? EX. F4F-3A Wildcat has a 25(25/25/20/15/10) what does this mean?

Thanks

Basically, maneuver ratings are a comparative deal. Each aircraft is given a maneuver rating for the various altitudes listed above the maneuver rating.

For example, the A6M2 has ratings of 33-33-37-21-10 (under 10k, 10-15k, 16-20k, 21-31k, 32k+). Compare that to those of the F4F-3A above and you can see that up to 31,000' the Zero is more maneuverable than the Wildcat - but from 32,000' up the Wildcat is equally maneuverable. Of course, 32k is essentially as high as the A6M2 can go (32,840') and the F4F-3A can only go to 34k.

The number in itself is meaningless, except in comparison to other aircraft.
