rchora -> New Public Beta - v1.03 beta 6 - Germany gets 500k Manpower a Week!!! (3/1/2011 10:54:32 AM)

Guys I need some help here something very strange is happening in my games after the new beta 1.06...I'm receiving, constantly, something like half a million men in replacements EVERY single turn now...I'm only in 1942...end of blizzard late February...This is happening since the beginning of the game. What's going on? Look at this...

2ndACR -> RE: New Public Beta - v1.03 beta 6 - Germany gets 500k Manpower a Week!!! (3/1/2011 10:56:55 AM)

You sure those are not returning frost bite casualties? I notice a big jump during the winter, but not during beginning games.

Here is a shot of my AI game I have going started using Beta 6

Plus I think repaired disabled squads etc are counted also here.

Frostbite casualties?

2ndACR I don't know...How does the game handle these frosbites casualties? Aren't they "normal" disabled casualties?

And from the disabled pool shouldn't we be receiving only a trickle of 1% a turn? I have something like 800K disbaled by now so something around 8k should be What I should be getting according to the manual...Isn't this so?

I have 1630 manpower factory points from germany in 1942 we get a 8x multiplying factor, so my rough estimate would allow me to receive around 20k total replacements per turn...Where are the other hundreds of thousands coming from?

I really like to know more about this frostbite thing. Please help.

P.S. - One last question do we get manpower from soviet captured manpower "factories" or not? I have 530 of those still in my controll...I mean from Czechs and Poles Germany gets 8% in 42, so what about from russia?

Thank you.

Helpless -> RE: New Public Beta - v1.03 beta 6 - Germany gets 500k Manpower a Week!!! (3/1/2011 12:01:26 PM)

You don't get any manpower from Soviet "factories". But what could happen that if you have a lot of disabled sqauds, half of them are sent to to the pool, but only 1/5 of manpower get's to the damage pool, the rest 4/5 goes to the normal pool and can be used for refits.

Another factor the is that 33% of unneeded support goes back to the pool. If your units getting low on TOE, this can create significant amount of extra manpower.

You may attach your save, so I could check if there is no issues.

Q-Ball -> RE: New Public Beta - v1.03 beta 6 - Germany gets 500k Manpower a Week!!! (3/1/2011 4:58:27 PM)

I saw the same thing in Blizzard. It's basically just Manpower churn. You'll find that the German Manpower pools starts to grow, not because you are getting more guys, but because you don't have enough Rifles to put everyone back into the line. WAD I think.

You'll also find that you do not have 500K more guys in your OOB vs. last turn....if anything, it's probably a bit smaller

Helpless -> RE: New Public Beta - v1.03 beta 6 - Germany gets 500k Manpower a Week!!! (3/1/2011 5:20:16 PM)

Guys, we found a bug with support sqauds flow from units back to the pool and back, which is generating huge numbers. Function was setting the requirement to 0 if support sqauds were not exceeding the need, but next routine was sending all them back to the pool. Next replacement phase they were going back to the unit. The only impact it has those bogus numbers in the event log.

rchora -> RE: New Public Beta - v1.03 beta 6 - Germany gets 500k Manpower a Week!!! (3/2/2011 12:15:03 AM)

Thanks Helpless.

But what do we do now? I mean this feature in the Log is a huge help. I REALLY pay attention to these details, I REALLY look to the logistics and production details of the game and plan accordingly...Its very, very hard to keep track of what is going on if such an important thing gives you wrong information, the same as NO information, or worse...

I already suspected this had something to do with the conversion of support personell into infantry squads as of beta 1.06 they STOPPED showing in log! at all! They don't show up anymore! Did you noticed that?

I was waiting for the end of thaw to upload more information, screens or saves...I only played two other turns as today was a work day, and so I'm only in early March.

But I mean, is there any way we can fix this bug without waiting for a further patch? And maybe make the fix save compatible?

Anyway what did this 1.06 beta change regarding the support squads? Thay were working fine untill now...The conversion to infantry, etc...it was working fine.Guys this game is HUGE in detail an complexity, I really love it, but cmon...Now we have two problems instead of one! btw interdiction seems to be working just fine, great that it could be added to the game features, its very realistic in approach and results.

rchora -> RE: New Public Beta - v1.03 beta 6 - Germany gets 500k Manpower a Week!!! (3/2/2011 12:44:00 AM)

Ok now some important numbers for us to look at...So now I have 3.271.285 men in the the German armed forces, and of these (3.236.775) or as we know the () means are ready for duty...

As you can see as of start turn 46 I had these casualties...

rchora -> RE: New Public Beta - v1.03 beta 6 - Germany gets 500k Manpower a Week!!! (3/2/2011 12:55:34 AM)

And produced this amount of manpower...Ok so are these figures right or not? Shouldn't I have something around the 2.800.000 men in all? Do the "extra" men present come from the arrived divs? So many?

For a player is very hard to do this math as the arrival/withdrawal log only registers FUTURE moves, but its very precise and useful, specially because we can see the exact amount of inf art and arm we get, or lose, with each unit arriving/leaving...But it would be very useful if PAST moves could be shown...Maybe as a filter? Past turn arrival/withdrawal vs future? Wouldn't this be very useful? For instance now it would allow us to check the manpower figures much more easily...It sure beats loading every turn since turn 1 all the way to turn 45, in this case. And still we would have to check each new unit...I mean certainly we can compare OOB from turn 1 and turn 45..but still some considerable amount of time and effort would have to be put into all the adding and subtracting to be able to know what is "new" arrived manpower, what was "produced" manpower, and what was "recovered" sick and wounded...And compare this to the "final" turn OOB numbers...geeesshh!

rchora -> RE: New Public Beta - v1.03 beta 6 - Germany gets 500k Manpower a Week!!! (3/2/2011 11:33:42 AM)

Ok now the mystery thickens...Now some support squads did show up as they were converted into infantry...What is going on? Btw the half million men a week stopped showing up in the log...But if they were indeed support squads converted to infantry why didn't they show up as such like these? One last thing, now its turn 58, July 1943, so were the 500k that showed somewhere untill March frostbite cases? Are the "first winter" cold and frostbitten casualties treated accordingly to a special rule? Part of the "first winter" rules?

And Manstein got dismissed...

Joel Billings -> RE: New Public Beta - v1.03 beta 6 - Germany gets 500k Manpower a Week!!! (3/2/2011 8:47:05 PM)

In theory you should be able to take your starting manpower plus your built manpower plus your reinforcements minus your losses minus any manpower remaining in the pool and arrive at your new OOB. Two days ago we started looking into some anomolies with these numbers. In the process, Pavel found the logistics report bug and several other bugs. He is still working on this as the replacement routines are some of the most complicated in the game. It's a high priority to root out any remaining bugs in this area. It's looking like the beta 6 1.03 version will become an official patch next week, but we're hoping to have these things figured out in the first 1.04 beta patch.

The game was great fun at 1.00 and only keeps on getting better. BZ.
