Could anyone provide a list (or provide a link) that details the abbreviations used for the various ship types ie CA = Heavy Cruiser, CL = Light Cruiser etc.

I'm familiar with most major naval types down as far as DD but I'm unfamiliar with the various tenders, transports and light craft.

I'm sorry if it has been asked before but I don't actually play AE or WITP but enjoy reading the AARs and would like a better idea of the vessels involved.

Cheers

There is a complete list in the appendex of the manual. Very helpful.

But he doesn't have the manual. He doesn't play, he just enjoys reading the AARs. I'm the same way.

Man, in my Starfleet Battles days I had all that stuff memorized, DDE, FFG,DDL, and so on. And that wasn't even including the X ships! Ok, I better stop, I'm having a nerd moment! [:D]

I have made 4 jpegs from screen shots of that part of the manual. Is it within the rules to post them for this purpose?

I've got a Word document with all the ship types in alphabetical order - pm me with an email address and I'll send it to you.

Andy

Many thanks for all the replies.

Thanks for the offer Borodino but I wouldn't risk any potential copyright issues posting pages from the manual.

Andy, I will take you up on your offer for the Word doc. PM sent.

Cheers

Try Google WitP - AE (Home) There is a list of ship types.

For what it's worth, this is a repost of something I did a couple of years ago: zipped .pdf of ship class listings, with notes on small craft, small escorts, and what ships various auxiliaries can help repair. (note: rename to remove .txt extension after downloading)
