When air dropping supply or fuel to HQ units far from a railhead, I get notifications of tons delivered and I can see the
HQ dump count increase, but nowhere have I been able to discern a change in either the HQ or CU % supply or fuel values. In other words,
how does one tell when you've delivered enough fuel for the HQ and associated CU to reach 100%?

You can look at the absolute requirements of each corps and attached units and add them up. I've never come close to filling up a panzer corps with fuel from air drops though. Those tanks are always thirsty.

So um..............here I am in air transport mode and I have in mind to use some tactical bombers to drop some ammo to one of my HQ units but I'm stymied to know the mechanics of how one does that. I can understand that tactical bombers might not be one of the types available to do air drops of supply but I'd still like to know the "how-to-do-it" of how one does it.

Tacticals won't. Only level bombers, and they pretty much will only do it if they are at 0% distance traveled.

R click the target to have it handled automatically, or Shift-R click if you want to select the planes (LB, TR, F) to fly.
