Trekkie -> Points for sunk ships (3/17/2011 8:23:55 AM)

Hi! I have a problem with Points for sunk ships on intelligence screen. I am playing full campaign as Allies against Japanese AI. Itīs 16/12/1941 and intelligence screen reports that I have sunked 7 Japanese ships valued to 55 points. However, when I click on the list of sunk ships, I can found 8 sunked ships - BB Hyuga (204 pts) is one of them. Hyuga was torpedoed by SS Sargo on Dec 13th, no immediate report on her damage was available (just "hit by one torpedo").Two days later, Hyuga appeared in the sunk ships list but she is not counted to the overall score. So,is it a fog of war "something like "not 100% confirmed yet") or is it a technical problem?

While the points for sunk ships are not subject to FOW, the sunk ships list is.
Treat Hyuga as not sunk, she will probably disappear from the list after some time.

Most of all early in the war when the list is not particularily long you can get useful information about whether a ship is sunk or not by comparing
the list to the points.

Hey LoBaron,

I posted some numbers  in another thread on this recently (which I can't find now) from a recent AI game where the ship points looking from the IJ and Allied sides had over 900 pts difference.  So, I'm not donvinced that FOW doesn't apply to those number as well....

Thanks PaxMondo, then I am probably wrong!

If this is true thats good news, I always disliked the thought of points for sunk ships being accurate
as it presented a way of cheating FOW.

Hi,

I believe I have seen at least once ship points going up after a sunk ship was seen again. I believe the VP total is correct, but its components (including ship sunk, and air losses) are not... And Tracker, if you use it, will provide you with yet another reckoning.

I find this very realistic. In real life, you'd get lots of tallies, from different sources, which contradict each other. Trying to figure out stuff by comparing different sources is part of your job.

Close to the way I do it. 16 Dec 1941. Or Trekkie could have 16.12.41.

Trekkie -> RE: Points for sunk ships (3/18/2011 7:05:51 AM)

Thanks a lot for your answers! It is good that fog of war applies to this although it probably means that Iīll have to leave that bottle of champagne in the fridge[:)].

To the date - itīs 16 Dec 1941.

jeffk3510 -> RE: Points for sunk ships (3/18/2011 2:24:21 PM)

Ok that makes sense

oldman45 -> RE: Points for sunk ships (3/19/2011 1:32:23 AM)

Wait till you see the ship come back because it was reported sunk in error. I have sunk the Kaga 3 times now [;)]
