Hades is right about APCR. The capped round is usually abbreviated APC, Armour Piercing Capped. The evolution version from it is called APCBC, Armour Piercing Capped, Ballistic Capped. This type of ammo has two caps, one blunt one to prevent the round from ricocheting and then a more streamlined on top of the blunt cap to improve ballistic performance. Also brits had the APDS round, Armour Piercing Discarding Sabot...afaik this was used already around the end of the WW2 but the accuracy of the round wasn't anything spectacular. Oh yes, and the US called APCR round HVAP which means 'HyperVelocity Armour Piercing' Voriax
