So as not to disrupt the great AAR going on, I thought I'd start this thread.

The changing state of the Objectives was discussed for a bit in the deve team a while back. In fact for a while, the objective control that a player saw, did only change if he had the objective within LOS.

This ended up causing a fair bit of confusion. One player would have a flag he thought was his, and at the end of the game find out that it was really controlled by the opposing player.

It also left some question as to just where you needed to send your units to 'win'. We did try it that way for a while.

thanks
rick

It reminded me of the way Steel Panthers worked.
O hey he got to that hill before me, I'd better be careful about op fire now.

There's no other way to change the way it works other than turning the flags off?

In the next game in the series we can revisit this and see what, if anything, can be done. We're too close to release to change it for this one.

thanks,

Aye, thanks.

Thanks for letting us know how flags work. It is not a game breaker, but I hope the next game addresses the known capture of a flag.

Success in a tactical battle is determined by either securing an objective or denying that objective to the enemy.

If the mission is to clear and secure an objective, it is paramount to actually CLEAR and SECURE that objective. If the enemy fails to clear and secure an objective properly, a small friendly unit can wreck havoc on the enemy through indirect fire, precise spot reports to higher command, etc.

Having omnipotent knowledge of who controls the objective defeats the purpose of recon'ing the battlefield and providing a force to secure the objective from counterattack.

Again, this isn't meant to be a complaint against the game because it looks to be a great game and we really need more tactical turn-based games in today's ADHD driven game market.

Can't wait for the release which hopefully will be in April.

What I would hope for in the future is that if you don't have knowledge of the objective, by an "eyes on" unit, it would display as neutral.

Good Hunting.

Good points and easily added even now (~20-30 min work)

But you know ....
