angus -> Gunfire arcs ???? (9/20/2002 8:29:03 AM)

I always play UV with the animations turned off. Maybe if I didn't I wouldn't need to ask this question, but ...

Looking at the ships database, guns can fire forward, right or left side and rearward. (I'm no seadog, but I cringed a bit at that. What was wrong with port, starboard and aft ?) Fair enough. But what does it mean ???????

Based on tabletop Harpoon and similar stuff, I'd guess that forward means something like 135 (where's my degrees symbol ?) degrees either side of the pointy bit at the front, rearward means 135 degrees either side of the blunt bit at the back and right or left means 62.5 degrees either side of the perpendicular through the ship's length.

Is this (approximately) correct ? If you know better, can you let me know what the right answer is ?

Thanks in advance,

Angus
