Great_Ajax -> Beta Scenarios (3/30/2011 11:28:39 PM)

Joel has given me the green light to release a couple of my scenarios that are in testing. They are not final and still need some playthroughs but they look good to me! Submit any feedback in the 'Scenario Design and Modding' forum and enjoy.

Thanks very much, nice to see the scenario list starting to expand. [:)]

I would like to see some players take up the torch of scenario design. I have already started on WitW work and my time devoted to WitE scenarios will be limited. These two scenarios were made entirely from the in-game editor with no coding at all. I'd be happy to mentor any potential scenario editors along through the process. I am working on a March 1942 Campaign scenario but its going slow at the moment.

Ahh, after all these years I get my March 42 start date thanks Trey. Whats the other scenario or scenarios you have in mind?

I have a Courland Pocket and Retreat from Leningrad just sitting around because the engine doesn't support Soviet withdrawals yet. Was also thinking about an April 1943 start date Campaign as well.

How about a 17 September 1939 start date? [:'(]

+1, that would be a good one [X(]

March 1942 Campaign is exactly what I've been waiting for, I look forward to downloading when you've got it ready.

Its crazy. The front lines look really bad with some good Soviet penetrations. Both sides are totally exhausted and the Germans get their 30+ reinforcement divisions fresh for the summer campaign. Should be fun.

Wow, this is a shot in the arm. March 42 start, a hole new war. I never liked the handcuffs of being south heavy in July... I can shorten the lines and eat in Moscow by summers end...

mussey -> RE: Beta Scenarios (4/1/2011 6:42:36 PM)

Or a May 1941 start. (Hitler spares the Balkans - Stuffed Grape Leaves and Baklava tribute saves Greece).

Redmarkus5 -> RE: Beta Scenarios (4/1/2011 8:59:06 PM)

How about a May 1942 GC start - Hitler decides to wait until that year to attack the SU, realizing that the Balkans diversion has spoiled his chances of victory in 1941. However Stalin, increasingly complacent after an additional year of peaceful co-existence, has not used the extra time well...

The problem with such a scenario is that, even with static units, the salients are rather obvious so the Soviets can reinforce them until their troops have withdrawn to a line that can be held if the Axis can't cut them off in one turn. I also doubt anyone's going to try a Second Kharkov offensive, so the Soviets will probably be a bit stronger in June than in the stock 1942 campaign.

There are issues with every scenario. I think the selling point of this scenario is that you aren't locked into the historical summer plan already in motion when you start the game.
