Angelo -> map overlays (4/21/2011 6:10:19 PM)

Purchased the game and started on a scenario design and have two questions.

1) when I load a JPEG image (1900x1200), the map is squished to the left of the AT map. Appears to be loading the entire map into the first hex row. How do I make it load a cross all the hexes?

2) what size of image file in pixels can be used per hex?

Guess a better question would be; given an image file of 1900x1200, what size map in hexes can I use?

Can't answer your first question, but I uploaded a map overlay last night, and here are a few pointers:
* make sure you map is PROPORTIONED the same as your hexes - I usually count out the hexes, then resize my map to the same proportion in Photoshop , or another paint-type of program. When the map isn't the same proportion, sometimes the game editor crashes.
* I haven't had much luck importing jpegs - even bitmaps haven't worked for me when trying to map overlay. I've only been able to import png files. When I try anything other than png files, the game editor crashes. (you CAN use bmp images for other game graphics, but the map overlay feature seems to be a little bit more temperamental)

As far a dpi or image size, I usually try to keep the images smaller, but that doesn't seem to cause as much problem as proportion or what type of file...
good luck

What size is the map (in AT)

Have you maybe created a 1*50 map? That would make it look like that.

It was 22 x 20.

Downloaded the Netherlands JPEG from the tutorial and it was 924 by 828(?) and it worked fine. The error must be the size of my image file (1900x1200).

So, what does the editor look for as input to the overlay load?

please attach or email the graphic files which cause the problems to vic@xs4all.nl so i can check them out.

thank you,

Sorry, I deleted the image. It was the Netherlands map from tutorial that I modified with Paint and that was the image that was causing the error. I re-downloaded and saved the tutorial map over the my modified map and it is working fine.

Tried to re-create the error but have been unable to do so. If I do run across the same issue again I'll post it.

Thanks for the support.
