Rocko911 -> The infamous When Thread, LOL. (4/23/2011 4:59:43 PM)

Well i could not hold out anymore and had to start the when thread, lol. So when are we looking at the game being available?

ccsdc83 -> RE: The infamous When Thread, LOL. (4/23/2011 6:04:21 PM)

All the previews would have you believe sometime next month in May. No official word has been released yet though just hold on a little while longer I suppose.
I also want to buy a copy badly.

Ken7 -> RE: The infamous When Thread, LOL. (4/27/2011 7:51:01 PM)

I think I read May 11. This year. 2011. A.D.

parusski -> RE: The infamous When Thread, LOL. (4/27/2011 8:45:18 PM)

Actually I think it is May 2111.

ijontichy -> RE: The infamous When Thread, LOL. (5/5/2011 11:58:45 AM)

The official site for the game says that there are 10 days, 08 hours, 02 mins until game is available (at time of writing). So I'm thinking mid-May if nothing goes wrong. Personally, I don't mind waiting longer if it means a less buggy game on release.

IainMcNeil -> RE: The infamous When Thread, LOL. (5/5/2011 1:26:15 PM)

We're looking at June right now - still polishing and imprioving the game. Dont want to release until we're completely happy.

parusski -> RE: The infamous When Thread, LOL. (5/5/2011 5:12:31 PM)

Amen Iain. I prefer games be released only when you are happy with them.

Lord Zimoa -> RE: The infamous When Thread, LOL. (5/5/2011 5:19:43 PM)

There is good new and bad news. The bad news is we are not on track to release Panzer Corps in May as planned. The good news is that this is because we're adding more polish and some additional cool content and even more missions. We decided the game is looking so good we need to put that extra bit of time and effort in to making it a real hit.

We apologise for the delay and hope you can understand and be patient, the new date is set now for mid June!

Obsolete -> RE: The infamous When Thread, LOL. (5/5/2011 8:58:58 PM)

If we were to release it now, some of you would find the final campaigns extremely tuff. That may be ok for SOME of you, but not the majority. A little more tweaking of balance and things SHOULD all fall into place.

Of course, that isn't to say 1943 is going to be easy either.

Zakhal -> RE: The infamous When Thread, LOL. (5/5/2011 9:32:45 PM)

My five week holiday starts mid june so its okay to release then. I give you my approval.

ijontichy -> RE: The infamous When Thread, LOL. (5/6/2011 12:33:57 AM)

That's fine. An extra month (or 2 or 3) doesn't bother me if it means a better game.

As long as it is not as tough as PGForever. I could hardly get through Poland let alone Norway at all so I ditched the game.

No problem, a clean release is good. A buggy PoS / bad game would not only reduce current sales , but also affect future products (at least for me)

HansHafen -> RE: The infamous When Thread, LOL. (5/7/2011 12:09:26 AM)

Yes, PG Forever just wasn't any fun.

ijontichy -> RE: The infamous When Thread, LOL. (5/7/2011 9:17:50 AM)

On the contrary, PG Forever made Panzer General fun again. At least for me it did. Fun is subjective, of course.

ccsdc83 -> RE: The infamous When Thread, LOL. (5/7/2011 10:23:01 AM)

Does the online option for Panzer General Forever work? I only play the single player because of time restraints at the moment, but I know it exists in the main menu.

If that works maybe a few of you could battle it out for a few weeks leading up to the PC release so you have a good feel of the mechanics of it all.

I found PG-Forever quite easy. However, IIRC Allied General in that package got very hard right from the second scenario into it.

HansHafen -> RE: The infamous When Thread, LOL. (5/8/2011 8:31:02 PM)

I don't believe you played the first two Poland scenario's and found it quite easy. We must have played two different games. Or you had a ton more prestige or turned off the time limit.

ijontichy -> RE: The infamous When Thread, LOL. (5/9/2011 5:32:13 AM)

I have very poor strategy brain but plenty of Panzer General experience. I think these two things balance each other equally. I just played PG Forever Poland and Warsaw scenarios, prestige normal, AI advanced, time limit normal, and won both on second attempt. This makes me classify them as easy. I prefer to play scenario which challenges me, makes me lose 5 times for every time I win, but not dependent on luck. It's more rewarding that way. If I win 50% or more, I get bored.

Shrug...

I have never turned off a time limit or anything similar.

nedcorleone1 -> RE: The infamous When Thread, LOL. (5/9/2011 8:46:09 PM)

Lets just all relax for a second. I guess "hard" and "easy" means different things to different people. My father who I actually introduced to the original PG back in the day reaffirmed to me how difficult PGForever was in relation to the original game. He said it was so difficult to win the Poland scenarios that he just shelved the game and thanked me for trying to get an old game to run easily on his computer. He was the kind of guy that not only poured in hundreds of hours beating the game in various fashions, he 'scientifically' went about determining the optimal way to win somewhere along the way. I remember seeing legal pads filled with notes, numbers, and figures related to the different scenarios. Each time he replayed he would try to beat his 'last attempt'.

Anyhow, just saying. PGForever seemed much more difficult to others and it was a huge turn-off for what we all know as an incredibly awesome and fun game. We don't need to turn a disagreement about what 'hard' is into anything bigger.

ccsdc83 -> RE: The infamous When Thread, LOL. (5/9/2011 10:32:59 PM)

The Norway scenario on PGF on hard difficulty made me want to club baby seals when I tried for the first time to overcome it.

HansHafen -> RE: The infamous When Thread, LOL. (5/10/2011 2:51:01 AM)

OK, I gotta see it. Record it and post it up so I can see how easy it is. It wasn't easy for me and I have alot of experience with PG too. But hey, I could be wrong.

ijontichy -> RE: The infamous When Thread, LOL. (5/10/2011 3:07:00 AM)

How do you record it?

There is a LOG which you can use to re-play back games. I believe I already posted a Poland log over at the PG Central (JP Panzers?) forums ages ago, as it seemed a few other new players were having problems with the Poland campaign.

ijontichy -> RE: The infamous When Thread, LOL. (5/12/2011 10:58:26 AM)

Here we go, attached is a replay of the Warsaw scenario in Panzer General Forever. Spoiler: I don't think it's a coincidence that we start off with enough Prestige to buy a Tactical Bomber and a Fighter.

And we could just as easily say there are always people who complain about games being too hard. Who is right? Who is wrong?

No one is, that's my point. If its too easy, they don't play. If its too hard, they don't play. I trust these guys will get this game about in the center of hard/easy. As for the game in question, anyone who has played them both will say its substantially harder then the original and posting its easy is just - well silly, IMO.
